On-stage seating for the Shakespeare's Globe production of FARINELLI AND THE KING, starring three-time Tony Award winner and Academy Award winner Mark Rylance, will go on sale on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at 10:00 AM.The Belasco Theatre will be transformed for this beguiling and transporting production, lit almost exclusively by the glow of candlelight and with live music played on Baroque instruments. Theatregoers who choose on-stage seats, in the upper gallery and at stage level ($32-$157) will have an authentic, up close and intimate viewing experience. This is pure titular titillation - a strategy that backfires with this dated, laboured and distinctly unsexy piece. 'Serious' writer Olivia (Emilia Fox) at one point bemoans the fact that her failed first novel was falsely marketed as a chick-lit romp, and here too there's a mismatch between erotic promise and Laura Eason's polemical two-hander about the inner workings of the publishing industry.

London's critically acclaimed Shakespeare's Globe, under the artistic direction of Emma Rice, will light up US stages and screens this summer and fall, with a three-city limited engagement of The Merchant of Venice, the return of the popular Globe on Screen cinema series and a special two-night concert collaboration with The Los Angeles Philharmonic at the historic Hollywood Bowl.

Shakespeare's Globe and Sonia Friedman Productions are delighted to announce the West End transfer of Claire van Kampen's critically-acclaimed new play Farinelli and the King, directed by John Dove, designed by Jonathan Fensom and starring Mark Rylance (Wolf Hall, Jerusalem, Richard III, Twelfth Night), as King Philippe V of Spain. Sam Crane will once again play the acting role of Farinelli, while the singing role will be reprised by opera star, Iestyn Davies and shared withRupert Enticknap. The rest of the cast will also transfer with Huss Garbiya playing Doctor Jose Cervi, Melody Grove playing Isabella Farnese, Colin Hurley as Metastasio and Edward Peel as De la Cuadra. Following a sold-out run at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse at the Globe earlier this year, Claire van Kampen's first play, Farinelli and the King, has transferred to the Duke of York's for a limited run this autumn. Starring Mark Rylance as King Philippe V of Spain, it tells the story of Farinelli, an exquisite castrato singer who was brought to Spain to sing for the King and the production focuses on the special relationship that formed between the two.

Onstage seating for the West End transfer of Claire van Kampen's critically-acclaimed new play Farinelli and the King, starring Mark Rylance, will be released to the general public on Friday 5th June at 10am.  Additionally, further seats will be released for all performances, including accessibly priced £10 tickets located in all parts of the house.
