Dates Announced For AN IDEAL HUSBAND, THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST and THE SELFISH GIANT at the Vaudeville
Classic Spring announces production dates for An Ideal Husband, The Importance of Being Earnest and The Selfish Giant.
An Ideal Husband will play 20 April to 14 July 2018. The Rolls-Royce of English comedies, the play brings an act of political sin into the heart of the English home. An ambitious government minister, Sir Robert Chiltern's smooth ascent to the top seems assured - until Mrs Cheveley appears in London with damning proof of his previous financial chicanery. Love, loyalty, honour and truth are all put at risk in this brilliant comedy of morals and manners.
The Importance of Being Earnest will play 20 July to 20 October 2018. Widely considered one of the funniest plays in the English language, Wilde's much-loved masterpiece throws love, logic and language into the air to make one of theatre's most dazzling firework displays. Jack, Algy, Gwendolyn and Cecily discover how unsmooth runs the course of true love, while Lady Bracknell keeps a baleful eye on the mayhem of manners.
The Selfish Giant, a Classic Spring Theatre Company and Royal & Derngate co-production, will have a limited run from 10 to 14 April 2018. The Selfish Giant has a beautiful garden, but he won't let any of the children play in it. Winter comes and never leaves. The Giant looks out over his garden from his tall window. What will he do? This new folk opera adaptation of Wilde's classic children's story by three-time BRIT and Ivor Novello award-winning composer Guy Chambers, will be directed by Bill Buckhurst. The cast will be joined on stage by a large band of extraordinary musicians, in a unique concert-staging for audiences young and old.About Classic Spring: A Celebration of Oscar Wilde
