On April 8, 2016, at 8:00PM, The New York Pops took center stage at Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage in The Music of John Williams: From Spielberg to Star Wars. Music Director and Conductor Steven Reineke lead the orchestra in a celebration of the work of legendary film composer John Williams, with a strong focus on his collaborations with Academy Award-winning director Steven Spielberg. The orchestra breathed life into some of cinema's most iconic scores, including selections from E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and Jurassic Park. The concert also included a look at Williams' seminal scoring of the Star Wars films, from their beginnings in the 1970s to today's The Force Awakens. Finally, an update on the long-gestating MISS SAIGON film adaptation! Rumored since 2012 and mentioned again when the Boublil and Schonberg musical returned to the West End in 2014, the Daily Mail writes that Danny Boyle -- the director behind SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE, 127 HOURS, London's 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony, STEVE JOBS and more -- is in talks to helm the project for Cameron Mackintosh and Working Title. No official announcement has been made.

The West End revival of MISS SAIGON closed yesterday, February 27th, after a nearly two-year run. The show's creators, Cameron Mackintosh, Alain Boublil, and Claude-Michel Schonberg, took to the stage at the final curtain yesterday to speak about the production's success. Mackintosh told fans that the 25th Anniversary production of MISS SAIGON was filmed, and he said that because it was so successful, he believes that the musical will find itself in a big screen adaptation very soon!

As BroadwayWorld reported yesterday, Allegiance will play its final performance on Broadway on Sunday, February 14, 2016. Performances began at the Longacre Theatre on October 6, 2015 and the production officially opened on November 8, 2015. At the time of its closing it will have played 37 previews and 113 regular performances. In light of the announcement, we're taking a trip down memory lane to the show's road to Broadway!

Cameron Mackintosh announced on November 19 that his acclaimed new production of Boublil and Schonberg's legendary musical MISS SAIGON - a smash hit in London since its premiere there in May, 2014 - will open on Broadway in the spring of 2017 at a Shubert theater to be announced.  The Broadway return of MISS SAIGON will feature its acclaimed London stars, Filipino-born and L.A. resident Jon Jon Briones as The Engineer and 19 year-old North Carolina native Eva Noblezada as Kim, who was discovered by the MISS SAIGON casting team at the National High School Musical Awards two years ago in New York.   First performance and opening night dates will be announced at a later date.
