Gettysburg College's Majestic Theater Announces 2019-2020 Celebrity Season

'It's Showtime' for a blockbuster lineup of performances during the 2019-2020 season at Gettysburg College's Majestic Theater. The season schedule includes comedy of all kinds, stunning acrobatic feats, a cappella sensations, new twists on musical classics, festive family shows, soaring gospel tributes, groundbreaking films, and international dance and folklore. Tickets go on sale June 6 to Majestic Theater members and June 7 to the general public.

Craft Latino proudly pays tribute today to one of Mexico's greatest stars, Antonio Aguilar, on what would have been his 100th birthday, with the release ofAntonio Aguilar Centenario: Colección de la Familia—a 100-song playlist curated by his sonPepe Aguilar and family. Available on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube and other streaming platforms, the career-spanning playlist includes the Aguilar family's personal favorites from Don Antonio's extensive catalog, including his biggest hits (“Albur de Amor,” “Un Puño de Tierra”) as well as songs made popular by his iconic films (“Heraclio Bernal,” “Caballo Prieto Azabache”). Listeners will enjoy a variety of styles like rancheras (Mexican folk songs), corridos(storytelling ballads), tambora (a style of banda music from Aguilar's home state of Zacatecas) and the popular mariachi.

Co-Chaired by Katie Lewis and Marisol Zarco, the annual JWCIA flagship fundraiser benefits the John Wayne Cancer Institute at Providence Saint John's Health Center.  Generous sponsorship of the event was provided by The Adelson Family Foundation.

History comes alive at Woodlawn Cemetery, Mausoleum & Mortuary in Santa Monica during their Living History Tour in which costumed actors portraying noted personalities interred there share their stories and contributions to history and society. And although I had heard about the tours in previous years, last weekend was the first time I actually spent two hours on a wonderfully brilliant Saturday afternoon walking among the many souls who chose this peaceful spot as their final resting place. This year's tour featured 14 notable characters more than willing to share their life stories, often adding in many details not widely known about them.

The National Lights will release their new EP, Whom The Sea Will Keep on February 22 viaBloodShake Records (pre-order). The EP follows up The National Lights' critically acclaimed album The Dead Will Walk, Dear. In anticipation of Friday's release date the album is streaming in full at Northern Transmissions.  About the EP Northern Transmissions says, 'The band draws inspiration from such far-ranging subjects as Southern Gothic literature and maritime lore but never stray far from traditional folk instrumentation and melodies. The trio's forthcoming release took shape between the summers of 2008 and 2018 in the ebbs of work, graduate school, and cross-country moves (Berns, Kiehne, and Cotton have dispersed to Eugene, Ore.; Baltimore; and Salt Lake City.'

Twenty-five years ago, Lorena Bobbitt's name was splashed across newspaper headlines and television screens nationwide when she was charged with attacking her husband, John Wayne Bobbitt, with a kitchen knife. Depraved serial killer John Wayne Gacy hunted in the streets of Chicago in the 1970s, luring 33 young men to a violent death. Gacy's insatiable urge to kill eventually became his undoing in 1978, and dental records were able to identify 25 of his victims. But when Gacy was put to death by lethal injection in 1994, the identities of the eight remaining victims died with him. Now, 40 years after Gacy terrorized the streets of Chicago, Investigation Discovery is re-opening the case in an attempt to finally uncover the identities of eight remaining victims. This limited series follows Detective Sergeant Jason Moran, a one-man cold case unit in Cook County, Illinois who seeks the help of new DNA technology to finally give families closure. The three-part limited series DEADLY LEGACY premieres Sundays at 10/9c beginning on December 9 on Investigation Discovery, the #1 network for true-crime and mystery programming.
