Due to the extension of BABY IT'S YOU at the Coast Playhouse, the workshop production of the world premiere play, VERONICA, written by acclaimed playwright and Academy Award-nominee John Patrick Shanley ('Doubt'), directed by Daniel Allen Nelson and starring Livia De Paolis as Veronica will now open on Friday, February 20 and will continue for two weeks through Saturday, February 28 at the Hudson Guild Theatre, 6539 Santa Monica Blvd. in Hollywood.

Pittsburgh Irish And Classical Theater Announces 13th Season

Pittsburgh Irish and Classical Theatre celebrates thirteen years of theatrical excellence next year with six mainstage productions and the return of the popular Storytellers Series. The 2009 season runs May-September with a special family friendly December production in time for the holidays. The organization has snagged the rights to produce one of the very first regional productions of Tom Stoppard's recent Broadway sensation Rock'n'Roll, and will present the play as the opener of the 2009 season, 'New and Ideal.' The season continues with the naughty-yet-sophisticated wit of Joe Orton's What the Butler Saw, the moral uncertainty of John Patrick Shanley's Doubt, the unbridled enthusiasm of Alan Bennett's students in The History Boys, and two classics of modern literature, Crime and Punishment and Jane Eyre, in phenomenal new adaptations for the stage. The Storytellers Series returns with Prague Spring: Three comedies about life under Communism by Vaclav Havel.

ENSEMBLE STUDIO THEATRE (William Carden, Artistic Director, Paul Alexander Slee, Executive Director) is celebrating a milestone - this spring marks their 37th Anniversary and 31st Marathon of One-Act Plays - and the occasion will be celebrated with a Benefit celebration in honor of distinguished E.S.T. member John Patrick Shanley. The celebration will be held Monday, May 4th at the Prince George Ballroom, 15 East 27th Street, with cocktails, hors d'ouevres and silent auction at 6:00 p.m., followed by dining and award presentation from 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $300 person with table and ad packages available.

Pullman and Stiles Set for Taper's 'OLEANNA' 5/28 - 7/12

Center Theatre Group has announced that Bill Pullman and Julia Stiles will appear in David Mamet's 'Oleanna', the third production of the Mark Taper season, replacing the previously announced 'Uncle Vanya.' That production was cancelled due to scheduling conflicts. Tony-winning Broadway director Doug Hughes will stage 'Oleanna,' which is scheduled to run May 28th through July 12th. Opening night is scheduled June 5th.

Variety reports that John Patrick Shanley has been chosen to receive the Writers Guild of America East's Ian McLellan Hunter Award for lifetime achievement in Writing. He will be presented with his award at the 61st annual Writers Guild Awards ceremony on February 7th at the Hudson Theater. Oscar, Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright-director John Patrick Shanley has brought his searing drama Doubt to the silver screen. Shanley wrote the screenplay and directs the film adaptation of his Tony winning hit.
