Playwrights Horizons & Vineyard Theatre Join to Develop New Musical 'THE BURNT P

THE BURNT PART BOYS -- a new musical by Mariana Elder (book), Nathan Tysen (lyrics) and Chris Miller (music), directed by Erica Schmidt ('Humor Abuse') -- will have an innovative production and development schedule on its way to an Off-Broadway premiere in the spring of 2010 when it will be presented as a co-production by Playwrights Horizons (Artistic Director, Tim Sanford; Managing Director, Leslie Marcus) and the Vineyard Theatre (Artistic Director, Douglas Aibel; Executive Director, Jennifer Garvey-Blackwell) at Playwrights Horizons, it has been announced by both non-profit theaters.

NEW DRAMATISTS, Tony Honor recipient and the nation's premiere playwright development workshop, proudly announces that the late Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Horton Foote will be honored with their 2009 Lifetime Achievement Award at its 60th Annual Spring Luncheon tribute, to be held Tuesday, May 19th at the New York Marriott Marquis. New Dramatists 60th Annual Spring Luncheon has been underwritten by Bob Boyett.

Mary-Arrchie Theatre Co. will present the Chicago premiere of Gary Bairos?Jimmy Gamble at Angel Island, 735 W. Sheridan. It will open Thursday, April 2, 2009 at 10:30 p.m. and run April 3, 4, 9, & 10 at 10:30 p.m. with a special 7 p.m. performance on Sunday April 5. Tickets are $15 for all performances. Hamingson) and LAByrinth Theater Company (Artistic Director John Ortiz; Co-Artistic Director Philip Seymour Hoffman; Co-Artistic and Executive Director John Gould Rubin) will begin previews on Friday, March 27 for Knives and Other Sharp Objects, the third play of the 2008-2009 Public LAB season. Written by Raúl Castillo and directed by Felix Solis, Knives and Other Sharp Objects will run through Sunday, April 19 with an official press opening on Sunday, April 12. Tickets are $10 for all performances and are on-sale now.

Hamingson) announced today that the first preview of Craig Lucas' THE SINGING FOREST has been moved to Friday, April 10 due to the need for additional technical rehearsals. Directed by Mark Wing-Davey, THE SINGING FOREST was scheduled to begin previews on Tuesday, April 7 and open on Monday, April 27. The show will now open on Tuesday, April 28 at 7 PM.
