When Sara and Callie meet, their friendship quickly turns to potential romance. After violence touches their relationship, they must choose: Speak up... or remain silent?

Loaded with laughter and tears, Stop Kiss will make you consider the things in life that matter most.

Directed by guest artist Jennifer E. Popple, Stop Kiss stars guest actors Kate Avallone, Michael Kane, Theresa Reid, Jim Walker and BETC Ensemble Member Rebecca Remaly.

BETC presents our FREE "SATURDAY SERIES"

BETC is committed to promoting community discussions inspired by the themes of our productions. All "Saturday Series" events are free and open to the public. All events take place at 6:00pm at The Dairy Center, with a complimentary reception for all attendees. No reservations - first come, first seated!

February 14th: "First Kiss: A Celebration" A dessert reception preceding that evening's performance. Eat a chocolate kiss (and other delectable treats), visit with the cast and director of Stop Kiss, and share your first-kiss stories!

February 21st: "Erasing Hate: A Community Discussion" Director of the Matthew Shepard Foundation, Thomas Howard, will speak about the motivating factors that spur people to commit hate crimes.

February 28th: "Constructions of Human Sexuality" A panel discussion about how people's sexuality is determined, moderated by Leland Giovannelli.

ABOUT BETC:
The Boulder Ensemble Theatre Company (BETC) began in 2005, when, as the Oddball Players, we performed An Evening of Plays at the Dairy Center for the Arts. AIDS was one of the major themes of the production, so we worked with Boulder County AIDS Project to distribute information about HIV/AIDS during our shows.

Our first official season as BETC was in 2006-2007, when we produced Jean Anouilh's adaptation of Antigone, and two one-acts by John Patrick Shanley: Danny and the Deep Blue Sea (Denver Post Ovation Award nominee for Best Play) and Savage in Limbo. Continuing BETC's mission of community involvement, we welcomed The League of Women Voters to partner with us for our production of Antigone.
Our second season, 2007-2008, included three full-length productions: The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams; Copenhagen by Michael Frayn; and The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) by Adam Long, Daniel Singer, and Jess Winfield. Copenhagen highlighted the issues of ethics and social responsibility in the scientific community; to promote further discussion and communication, we featured three evenings of panel discussions with local experts. With Complete Works, BETC partnered with the Colorado Shakespeare Festival for our first collaborative production, with a run at the Dairy Center and two performances during CSF's summer season. Complete Works also recieved an Ovation Nomination for Best Comedy.

Season 3 opened with Neil LaBute's Fat Pig. The reminder of the 2008-2009 season will feature Stop Kiss by Diana Son, and the World Premiere of Morisot Reclining by William C. Kovacsik. Both projects will include our Saturday Series of panels and other formal discussions surrounding the plays' themes and issues.
