Victory Gardens Launches Director Inclusion Initiative

Victory Gardens Theater announces the launch of The Directors Inclusion Initiative to encourage and develop talented and emerging Chicago stage directors identifying as people of color, disable, women, transgender and gender non-conforming. The aim of the initiative is to cultivate a new generation of diverse stage directors who create dynamic theatre work for their unique points of view.

Hunter Parrish, Montego Glover & More Set for MasterVoices' PIRATES OF PENZANCE Concert at New York City Center

MasterVoices kicks off the 2015-2016 season with The Pirates of Penzance; or, The Slave of Dutyon October 15-16, 2015 at 8pm at New York City Center, 131 W. 55th Street, New York City. Following the success of our 2012 Mikado at Carnegie Hall, MasterVoices' semi-staged presentation of The Pirates of Penzance will feature a cast of stars from the Broadway and opera worlds, along with Orchestra of St. Luke's performing Arthur Sullivan's original orchestrations under the direction of Artistic Director Ted Sperling. City Lit Theater Sets 36th Season

Nicholas Meyer's The Seven-Per-Cent Solution, in a world premiere adaptation by City Lit Artistic Director Terry McCabe and directed by Warner Crocker, will open City Lit Theater's thirty-sixth season, McCabe announced today.

BWW Column: Five Things About... the JERSEY BOYS Movie

Today, I am kicking off the series with “Five Things About the JERSEY BOYS Movie,” a film that I failed to see in the theater because all of the horrendous reviews Clint Eastwood's direction received. Released in June 2014, the movie tells the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. Based on the Tony and Grammy winning musical of the same name, the film adaptation went through a number of iterations during development. Initially Tony-winning playwright, and TV and movie scribe John Logan was to pen the screenplay and Jon Favreau (of ELF, IRON MAN, and SWINGERS fame) was slated to direct.

Victory Gardens to Stage John Logan's NEVER THE SINNER This Winter

Victory Gardens Theater announces the next show of its 41st season, Never the Sinner by John Logan, directed by Gary Griffin.  Never the Sinner runs November 6 - December 6, 2015 with the press performance on Friday, November 13, 2015, at Victory Gardens Theater, 2433 N. Lincoln Avenue.

Westport Country Playhouse's 2016 Season to Feature BUYER AND CELLAR, CAMELOT & More

Westport Country Playhouse announces its 2016 season, featuring two Tony Award-winning plays in repertory, an Off-Broadway hit, a new thriller by a Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright, a witty comedy by Joe Orton, and a reimagined musical by Lerner and Loewe.  The works will be staged next year from May through October. Shakespeare Theatre Company to Celebrate Free For All's 25th Anniversary This Fall

One of the capital's most beloved annual traditions, the Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC) Free For All, and one of William Shakespeare's most beloved plays, A Midsummer Night's Dream, are coming together for a major milestone: Free For All's 25th anniversary. Ethan McSweeny directs a revival of his 2012-2013 STC production, which will run September 1-13 at Sidney Harman Hall (610 F Street NW).

BWW Reviews: I'LL EAT YOU LAST in Hartford

TheaterWorks in Hartford is closing out its 29th season with the one-woman talk fest based on one of Hollywood's first female super agents:  Sue Mengers.   "Gossip is mother's milk to me," she says, and, indeed, the performance is an 80 minute dish session without intermission.

Theater at Monmouth's A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM Opens Tonight

William Shakespeare's magical comedy A Midsummer Night's Dream opens at Theater at Monmouth tonight, July 23 at 7:30 p.m. One of Shakespeare's most popular plays, A Midsummer Night's Dream follows the journey of four young lovers as they find their way through the forest and to each other. Victory Gardens SUCKER PUNCH Begins 9/18

Victory Gardens Theater announces the first show of its 41st season, the Midwest Premiere of Sucker Punch by Roy Williams, directed by Dexter Bullard.  Sucker Punch runs September 18 - October 18, 2015 with the press performance on Friday, September 25, 2015, at Victory Gardens Theater, 2433 N. Blackbird Theatre Premieres MYTH Musical, Beginning Tonight

After four critically acclaimed seasons, Nashville's Blackbird Theater will produce what company founders call their 'magnum opus,' the new musical Myth, set for a world premiere run tonight, July 16, through July 26.
