Professor Steve Robinson to Speak at Three Stages, 2/19

In his tiny office at UC Davis, Professor Steve Robinson holds up two letters. One is a letter rejecting his application to come to UC Davis as an undergraduate. The other, dated nearly 40 years later, is an invitation from UC Davis for Robinson to join the engineering faculty as a tenured professor. "A career in NASA is like this," notes Robinson. "There is rejection, there is failure and, with some persistence, amazing things are accomplished."

Company of Fools Presents DISTRACTED, 2/13-3/1

Company of Fools, part of the Sun Valley Center for the Arts, finishes its 17th season with Distracted by Lisa Loomer running February 13 - March 1 at the Liberty Theatre in Hailey. Time Out NY called Distracted a "My favorite comedy of the year!' The play examines the perplexing and emotional journey of two parents hoping to make the best treatment decision of treatment for their son's Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). Distracted, which premiered in Los Angeles in 2007 and made its Off-Broadway debut in 2010, is a sharp, chaotically entertaining riff on the challenges of parenting in the modern age.

Sun Valley Center for the Arts and Company of Fools (COF) have finalized an agreement to become one organization, ensuring the presence of professional theatre and increasing the opportunities for outstanding arts events in the Wood River Valley.

Company of Fools and the Sun Valley Center for the Arts present Happily Ever After?, a concert exploring fairy tales in the American musical theatre. For two nights only, tonight, November 9 and tomorrow the 10th at 7PM, the Liberty Theatre will come alive with music from some of Broadway's favorite fairy-tale based musicals including Into the Woods, Cinderella, Once Upon a Mattress and The Little Mermaid. This enchanted evening, directed by R.L. Rowsey and John Glenn, features several of Broadway's most dynamic artists.

Happily Ever After? will feature music from some of Broadway's favorite fairy-tale musicals including Into the Woods, Cinderella, Once Upon a Mattress and The little Mermaid. R.L. Rowsey and John Glenn direct an ensemble cast of extraordinary talent-from Broadway and the Wood River Valley-to create the happiest of evenings. This program has been fully sponsored by Jeri Wolfson and all tickets revenue will support the evolving partnership between the Company of Fools and the Sun Valley Center for the Arts.

First performed in the UK in 1987, the play is now celebrating 23 years in London's West End with more than 7 million people having lived to tell the tale of one of the most exciting, gripping and successful theatre events ever staged. John Glenn will direct Company of Fools' production, which features Scott Creighton and Neil Brookshire. Today, May 29th, President Barack Obama awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. The Medal of Freedom is our Nation's highest civilian honor, presented to individuals who have made especially meritorious contributions to the security or national interests of the United States, to world peace, or to cultural or other significant public or private endeavors.
