Jessica Lange is considered one of the greatest actresses of her generation. As the recipient of several awards, including two Oscars, three Emmys, five Golden Globes, one SAG award and three Dorian Awards, and now nominated to take home her fourth Emmy for Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie for Elsa Mars on AMERICAN HORROR STORY: FREAK SHOW, it is no question that Lange has proved her acting abilities since her professional film debut in 1976's KING KONG.

Alan Ayckbourn makes another delightful, not-so-clean comedy sweep at Westport Country Playhouse with Bedroom Farce. The play captures all the fun, frustration, fighting, frivolity, and fidgeting that inevitably goes into any all-nighter.
When Green Day's American Idiot arrived on Broadway in 2010, it received a mixed response. When I saw the OBC, I thought they were absolutely stunning and found the book, like everyone else, safe. Furthermore, you have the hard rocking score that is Green Day's Grammy winning album that the musical is derived from. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience seeing it on the Great White Way and I am delighted Hauppauge's SoLuna Studio has added it to their summer season.
Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director), in association with Ryan Murphy, just announced that Academy Award nominee Michael Shannon will return to Broadway as "James Tyrone, Jr." in Eugene O'Neill's Long Day's Journey Into Night, joining the previously announced Academy and Emmy Award winner Jessica Lange as "Mary Tyrone," Golden Globe winner and Tony Award nominee Gabriel Byrne as "James Tyrone," and Tony Award winner John Gallagher Jr. as "Edmund Tyrone." Jonathan Kent will direct, as part of Roundabout Theatre Company's 50th anniversary season.

Written by Lake Water's Troy Deutsch (Standby for John Gallagher Jr. in Broadway's Rabbit Hole), IN A TILTED PLACE is a kaleidoscope of a play where lovers, addicts, mermaids, and other strange creatures all stumble through a bizarre, hilarious, and sometimes frightening reality- from Rockefeller Center to the High Line- and nothing is quite as anyone imagined it would be.
We came online this morning to an overflowing inbox of thoughts and rememberances that we present belong along with quotes from industry notables on social media. To all those who loved, knew, worked with, or had the pleasure of watching this enormous talent - he will be missed.
The BroadwayWorld community is nothing if not vocal and yesterday's critical column revealing my top picks for the most important gay musicals of all time inspired many reactions in the feedback, on Facebook and on social media, ranging from 'I LOVE LOVE LOVE COCO' to 'No FUN HOME?' to 'Where's THE FAGGOT?' and far beyond. As with any list such as this, historical perspective is an essential element and a musical such as FUN HOME that has only been on Broadway mere months is obviously too new to truly assess insofar as its historical influence and impact on the overall legacy of gay musicals on Broadway in toto - going as far back as 1969's COCO and covering all the way up to 2013's KINKY BOOTS, as yesterday's list did. So, as a result, we are giving you more of what you asked for and sharing 10 more musicals that have been important to the gay movement, all of which cited in yesterday's column but not included on the actual top ten. What follows are my personal choices, so what are yours? Let us know and perhaps we will even need to do another list to shine a light on even more LGBT touchstones.
Just last month, BroadwayWorld brought you news that Spring Awakening might be heading back to New York. And now an Equity casting notice has confirmed that Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater's musical is officially headed to NYC, but no word yet on whether the show will end up on Broadway.
