19-Year-Old Composes Piece Commemorating JFK Assassination Anniversary, Now thru 11/24

Tonight, November 21 through the 24th, 2013, 19-year-old pianist/composer Conrad Tao will premiere his new composition The World Is Very Different Now, performed by the Dallas Symphony Orchestra conducted by Jaap van Zweden. The piece is part of a concert commemorating the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy on November 22nd, 1963, and The World Is Very Different Now was commissioned especially for the event by the DSO with support by the National Endowment for the Arts and TACA.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in association with La Jolla Playhouse, presents a re-imagining of Henry Krieger and Bill Russell's Side Show. Directed by Academy Award winning director Bill Condon, the musical plays at La Jolla Playhouse now through December 17 and will open at the Kennedy Center Eisenhower Theater in spring 2014. The musical features book and lyrics by Bill Russell and music by Henry Kriegerwho will revise the show before its debut at La Jolla. Check out some costume sketches by designer Paul Tazewell and renderings for some of the "freak" character special makeup effects by Dave and Lou Elsey below!

Compared to the same night a year ago, 48 HOURS was up +13% in viewers and up +5% in households.
