MoMA Nights and Summergarden Concerts Highlight Summer 2012

This summer, live music performances return to The Museum of Modern Art's Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture Garden with MoMA Nights on Thursdays in July and August and Summergarden concerts on four Sundays in July. In addition, MoMA will extend its hours by opening from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Tuesdays (June 26 through September 25), a day the Museum is usually closed, and until 8:00 p.m. on Thursdays (July 5 through August 30), providing the public with more opportunities to enjoy the Museum's renowned collection and special exhibitions.

Bang on a Can Celebrates 25 Years with Triple Bill Concert at Lincoln Center Tonight

Bang on a Can takes over Alice Tully Hall presented by Lincoln Center's Great Performers series in a triple-bill birthday bash tonight, April 28 at 7pm featuring the Bang on a Can All-Stars, Asphalt Orchestra, and MIT's Gamelan Galak Tika. Bang on a Can is celebrating 25 years during 2012, having grown from a one-day New York-based Marathon concert (on Mother's Day in 1987 in a SoHo art gallery) to a multi-faceted performing arts organization with a broad range of year-round international activities.

2012 BBC Proms Season to Include MY FAIR LADY Concert, July 14

The 2012 BBC Proms is officially launched today, revealing details of the broad-ranging programme of events planned for its 118th season. Opening at the Royal Albert Hall on 13 July 2012 the festival promises two months of the world's greatest artists, composers, orchestras and ensembles across 92 concerts, including four Last Night celebrations around the UK.

ACME Performs Three Concerts in May; Releases Album in June

ACME, the American Contemporary Music Ensemble, announces three New York concerts in May and an album release in June 2012. At 8 pm on both Friday, May 11 and Saturday, May 12 the group will take the stage at The Kitchen (512 W. 19th St., NYC) for two performances of the music of William Brittelle and Mick Barr. At 8pm on Monday, May 14, ACME performs Timothy Andres' I Found it by the Sea as part of the 2012 Look & Listen Festival, held at the Pratt Manhattan Gallery (144 W. 14th St., 2nd Floor, NYC).

DIDO AND AENAEUS, THE MURDER OF CROWS et al. Set for Mostly Mozart Festival, 7/28-8/25

Jane Moss, Ehrenkranz Artistic Director, today announced the programming for the 46th season of the Mostly Mozart Festival, which runs from July 28 - August 25, 2012. Spanning seven venues, the Festival will offer more than 37 events including concerts, dance, visual art, film, pre-concert recitals, late-night performances, lectures, and bird-watching tours through Central Park, a special accompaniment to this summer's birdsong theme.

Conductor Jeffrey Milarsky returns to Walt Disney Concert Hall to lead the LA Phil New Music Group in a Green Umbrella concert, Tuesday, April 10, at 8 pm. The concert features the world premiere of Oscar Bettison's LA Phil-commissioned Livre des Sauvages, the U.S. premiere of Karlheinz Stockhausen's Five Star Signs, and John Cage's Concerto for Prepared Piano, performed by Gloria Cheng. Milarsky replaces John Adams, who had to withdraw as conductor due to scheduling demands.

Cunningham Trust Announces First Fellowships, Scholar-in-Residence

The Merce Cunningham Trust today announced that former Merce Cunningham Dance Company (MCDC) members Susana Hayman-Chaffey, Rashaun Mitchell, Sandra Neels, and Susan Quinn are the first recipients of the Cunningham Fellowship, a new program to support the teaching, revival, and performance of Cunningham works. Supervised by former MCDC Director of Choreography and Merce Cunningham Trustee Robert Swinston, each Fellow will conduct a multi-week repertory workshop to restage a Cunningham dance for pre-professional students. The Trust has also announced that it has named dance writer and Mondays with Merce producer Nancy Dalva Scholar-in-Residence, to help facilitate the ongoing study of Merce Cunningham and his work.

While they are in New York, WNET's THIRTEEN will screen two PBS Great Performances programs on March 29 & 30 of concert events led by Michael Tilson Thomas: The Thomashefskys: Music & Memories of a Life in the Yiddish Theater, and San Francisco Symphony at 100, including the Symphony's Centennial Season gala concert featuring Itzhak Perlman and Lang Lang.
