Moving Image Presents THE COMPLETE HOWARD HAWKS Retrospective, Now thru 11/10

Howard Hawks, the quintessential Hollywood director known for his mastery of many genres, will be the subject of a complete retrospective at Museum of the Moving Image from today, September 7 through November 10, 2013. The Museum will present 39 features. All of the films will be shown in 35mm-many in stunning restorations-except for Red Line 7000, which will be shown in 16mm.

Yangtze Rep's THE EMPRESS DOWAGER Plays Theater for the New City, Now thru 6/23

Yangtze Repertory Theatre's 20th anniversary production is 'The Empress Dowager,' a three-act epic examining 40 years of the reign of the Manchu empress who ruled China from behind the throne. It recounts the perilous journey of an ancient kingdom seeking a place in the modern world. The play is written and directed by Joanna Chan, Artistic Director, and will be performed by a cast of 25 in Mandarin Chinese with English subtitles. Theater for the New City, 155 First Ave., will present the piece tonight, May 31 to June 23.

Image Entertainment, Inc. (OTCQB: DISK) just announced the upcoming release of Christopher Plummer's critically heralded cinematic portrayal of Barrymore, available on Blu-rayTM at $39.98, DVD at $29.98, and Digital Download on May 7th. Hot on the heels of Plummer's Best Supporting Actor Oscar for Beginners last year, the octogenarian star of stage and screen delivers his most affecting performance yet. Barrymore was released theatrically by BY Experience and Image Entertainment in New York and Los Angeles in November of 2012. The Los Angeles Times then enthused, 'Christopher Plummer is a mischievous delight as the great John Barrymore, intent on a stage comeback.' Barrymore was also recently nominated for two PRISM Awards including Performance in a Feature Film.

I HATE HAMLET Comes to the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina, 2/5-2/24

The premise of this incredibly witty comedy is much more about taking chances in life and far less about Hamlet! Onstage at the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina this February, this play, which the NY Times called "hilarious," centers around a young, successful television actor who relocates to New York from L.A., where he rents a marvelous apartment in Greenwich Village. With his career in turmoil, the actor named Andrew Rally [played by Ethan Saks] is offered the role of Hamlet. But alas - you guessed it - he hates Hamlet!
