In 1985, Larry Kramer's play 'The Normal Heart' debuted at The Public Theatre, and sent shockwaves through the theatrical community. The play was a current, powerful look at the quick-spread of the AIDS epidemic that was raviging the gay community in New York. In The New York Times, theatre critic Frank Rich said of the initial production, 'There can be little doubt that 'The Normal Heart' is the most outspoken play around - or that it speaks up about a subject that justifies its author's unflagging, at times even hysterical, sense of urgency.'

EMMY Award-Winner Bruce Vilanch stars in a staged reading of RUBBLE, a new comedy by 4 time EMMY Award-Winning 'The Simpsons' writer, Mike Reiss at The Provincetown Theater. 'The Sopranos' star and Broadway veteran Jerry Adler also joins the cast. The staged reading of RUBBLE will be directed by James Valletti for one night only to benefit The Provincetown Theater. All proceeds go directly to support The Provincetown Theater.

Two River Theater, under the leadership of Artistic Director John Dias and Managing Director Michael Hurst, has concluded its 20th Anniversary Season, highlighted by far-reaching new-play development activities supported by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, the Harold and Mimi Steinberg Charitable Trust, and The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. The season was bookended by the Two River directorial debuts of acclaimed actors Joel Grey (Paul Osborn's On Borrowed Time) and Michael Cumpsty (Wendy Wasserstein's Third).
Donna Carbone, Managing Director of the Burt Reynolds Institute for Film and Theatre (Institute), announced a date change for the Cabaret Camp Showcase to be presented at the Lake Park Mirror Ballroom, inside the Lake Park Town Hall. "We apologize for the confusion. Coordinating the many details that go into a show can be daunting," she said when explaining why changes had to be made.
According to Variety, acting teacher George Morrison, who throughout his career worked with such stars as Gene Hackman, Dustin Hoffman, Edie Falco and more, recently passed away. He was 86 years old.
