Photo Flash: First Look at MET's THE ELEPHANT MAN, Beginning Tonight

Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) presents the fifth play in its 17th Mainstage season, the award winning drama, 'The Elephant Man'. Written by Bernard Pomerance, and directed by MET Associate Artistic Director, Julie Herber, the play will run at Maryland Ensemble Theatre for four weeks beginning tonight, April 10. Clairdee to Join Capital Jazz Orchestra in Honoring Billie Holiday, 5/15

International touring and recording artist Clairdee joins forces with the Capital Jazz Orchestra, Clayton 'Skip' Poole, Music Director, for a very special 100th birthday tribute to the great “Lady Day”, Billie Holiday, on Friday, May 15, at 7:30pm. Based in San Francisco, Clairdee will be performing such Billie classics as “Travelin' Light,” “Any Old Time,” and “God Bless the Child,” along with many other selections featuring both the big band and the more intimate CJO combo.

Tenorman/Clarinetist Frank Griffith to Perform at Ware Center , 4/17-18

Accomplished jazz clarinetist and tenorman, Frank Griffith travels from England to Lancaster to perform two unique concerts on Friday, April 17 and Saturday, April 18. His performance on April 17 is promised to wrap up the Ware Center's season of the Jazz in the Sky performances on a high note. The concert begins at 7:30 pm at the Ware Center located at 42 N. Prince Street, Lancaster. On Saturday, April 18 at 7:30 pm, Frank Griffith will join the 10th Annual Single Reed Symposium and finish the evening as a guest artist in the Jazz & Java concert on campus at Gordinier Hall located at 40 S. George Street, Millersville.

Gabrielle Stravelli Performs Tonight at New Jersey's Watchung Arts Center

GABRIELLE STRAVELLI - the acclaimed pop/jazz vocalist called 'ingenious' by The Wall Street Journal and known from her tours with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, appearances at the 92nd Street Y and her long-running Soho jazz brunch - will join tenor saxophonist Ed Finkel as he brings a group of well-known New York jazz artists to the Heinz W. Otto Gallery at the Watchung Arts Center in Watchung, NJ tonight, March 28 at 8 PM. A dessert reception will follow the performance.

Count Basie Orchestra Comes to Harris Center Tonight

William 'Count' Basie started The Count Basie Orchestra in 1935, in Kansas City, Missouri. Within a year, America was listening in on popular radio shows throughout the country to hear what would become 'The greatest swing band in all the land!' A phenomenon was born in 1935 that is still going strong today! Harris Center for the Arts is proud to present this legendary orchestra.

Corky Hale, Freda Payne Set for Billie Holiday 100th Birthday Celebration at Catalina Jazz Club, 4/6

Acclaimed Jazz harpist-pianist-vocalist Corky Hale will present a 100th Birthday Show honoring Billie Holiday on Monday, April 6 at the Catalina Jazz Club in Hollywood. Special guests will include singers Freda Payne, Eloise Laws and Tricia Tahara, with Hale on piano and harp, Lyman Medeiros on bass, John Chiodini on Guitar and Christopher Jones on drums. Holiday, who was born on April 7, 1915 and died in 1959, was one of the most important and influential jazz legends of all time.

Photo Flash: Maryland Ensemble Theatre Celebrates Stage2 Ribbon Cutting

Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET), Frederick's largest producing non-profit theater, launched a Capital Campaign in September of 2013 to raise funds for an additional performance venue and alterations to the existing facilities. On January 10, 2015 MET celebrated the completion of the Stage2: The Greene Space venue and numerous other capital improvements with a ribbon cutting ceremony, hours of free activities for families, and an evening of comedy and music. Steve Marvin to Join Capital Jazz Orchestra to Honor Billie Holiday in 2015

Guest vocalist Steve Marvin joins the Capital Jazz Orchestra in A Centennial Salute to Frank Sinatra on Friday, January 16, at 7:30pm. The first and possibly the greatest American musical superstar, Frank Sinatra was inarguably one of the most successful, multi-talented entertainers of the 20th century, singing with the most popular big bands of the 40s, pursuing a successful solo recording career, and earning Academy Awards as an actor. Backing Mr. Marvin in this centennial salute to the musical legacy of the Chairman of the Board is the acclaimed Capital Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Clayton 'Skip' Poole.

Maryland Ensemble Theatre Presents A REVOLUTIONARY CHRISTMAS

Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) presents the third play in its seventeenth Mainstage season, the World Premiere of 'A Revolutionary Christmas'. Written by Reiner Prochaska and directed by Suzanne Beal, the play tells the story of a family living on a German farm in Frederick during the Revolutionary War. When they end up taking an escaped Hessian soldier captive, the soldier helps them rediscover love, hope, forgiveness, and the meaning of Christmas. A show for the whole family and an excellent way to celebrate the holidays, it will run at MET this December for fourteen performances over four weeks.

Maryland Ensemble Theatre's (MET) family theatre, The Fun Company is bringing back everyone's favorite first-grader this holiday season, the famously feisty and irrepressible Junie B. Jones. With plenty of laughs and life lessons, 'Junie B. Jones: Jingle Bells, Batman Smells' is the perfect holiday treat for the whole family.
