Pat Quinn, the Governor of Illinois, has proclaimed that October 11th will now be known as “Smokey the Dog Day” in the state. Last week, Smokey, a Labrador/Retriever mix based out of Station 2 in Jacksonville, Illinois, was named winner of the NBC “Chicago Fire” Top Dog Competition. Smokey will appear on NBC's “Chicago Fire” in a cameo role during an episode later this season.

American Theatre Company's DISGRACED Coming to Broadway?

According to the Chicago Tribune, American Theatre Company's Artistic director PJ Paparelli has announced that their upcomig production of DISGRACED is ' a possible pre-Broadway tryout. The play, written by Ayad Akhtar, is about 'a Muslim-American lawyer tyring to climb the corporate ladder at some cost to himself.' New York producers the Araca Group is backing the project. Openi ng night is set for February 6.

David Cromer to Direct American Theatre Company's RENT?

According to the Chicago Tribune, David Cromer is currently in talks to dierct the American Theater Company production of RENT, which runs May-July 2012. Artistic director PJ Paparelli to the Tribune: 'It depends on David's schedule. We won't know for a couple of weeks.'
