On September 22nd, you have one chance to see a New York Theatre Barn (The Barn) exclusive Pre-Premiere* of the new musicals, MARRYING ME and SEAWIFE at the Daryl Roth Theatre's D-Lounge at 7:30 pm. MARRYING ME's book is by Mark Beau de Silva, with lyrics by EllaRose Chary and music by Onn San. SEAWIFE is created by New York City based indie-folk band The Lobbyists in collaboration with Seth Moore and director Liz Carlson. The Barn is the only 501(c)(3) non-profit theatre company whose sole mission is 'to give theatre a chance.'

Josh Walker, a cast member of the upcoming Broadway revival of Side Show and its recent Kennedy Center staging, has written a new musical about Post-Impressionistic French painter Henri de Toulouse Lautrec and the Moulin Rouge. Toulouse: A New Musical has a score composed by Walker, with a book by John David Nelson, and lyrics by both Walker and Nelson. A workshop is currently taking place in Chicago with presentations scheduled for this weekend, August 29 - 31, 2014. Walker will also play the title role of Toulouse Lautrec.

The Board of Directors of New York Theatre Barn (The Barn), the only 501(c)(3) non-profit theatre company whose sole mission is "to give theatre a chance," announced today that Brian Swasey has been appointed as its Managing Director, effective immediately. Swasey will work alongside Joe Barros, founder and Artistic Director of the company. Swasey's primary responsibility will be to manage business operations of the company. In addition, he will assist Barros in programming and producing The Barn's presentations.

The July installment of New York Theatre Barn's Choreography Lab will take place on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at 6pm at ART/NY's Spaces @ 520.

This will be the first time in the history of the festival that a reading will add an additional performance to its run. A private industry reading of Insult to Injury will take place today, July 11 in Manhattan. Insult to Injury has book and lyrics by Maura M. Knowles and music by Nathania Wibowo. The reading will be directed by Joe Barros (Artistic Director of New York Theatre Barn, New York Innovative Theatre Award nominee for Hard Times).

For Tonight's story is inspired by the life of the writer's great-great-great-grandfather in the 1830's in Northern Wales/Liverpool. With its indie-rock inspired score and a completely original book, this story focuses on the universal themes of love, family and acceptance. The show will have three performances at The Studio Theatre at Theatre Row in July 2014.

At a post-performance party all audience and cast members will share shots of Irish Whiskey to salute the acclaimed 'father of American music', and pre-eminent 19th century songwriter. Fundamental Theater Project will present the upcoming staged reading of Supersoldier, a new rock musical with book, music and lyrics by Hair co-creator, Jim Rado. The reading is presented in collaboration with New York Theatre Barn, and will be directed by NYTB Artistic Director, Joe Barros. Ted Rado also serves as Co-Book Writer on the piece, and Steve Margoshes and Marteen Andruet join as Musical Directors.
