Blaire, Fleming, Powers And Self Will Present Dance Pieces For New York Theatre Barn's Choreography Lab May 21

The fifth season of New York Theatre Barn's Choreography Lab continues on Monday, May 21, 2018 at 2pm at The Cell. Funded in part by a generous gift from the Amber Foundation, The Choreography Lab was created to elevate and expand the use of dance in musical theatre. It is also the only curated choreography platform where choreographers and writers collaborate to develop movement for new musicals during incubation.

Musical Comedy BASTARD JONES Sets Off-Broadway Opening Date

Nancy Manocherian's the cell (Artistic Director, Kira Simring) will present the Off Broadway Premiere of BASTARD JONES, a rock musical comedy based on Henry Fielding's bawdy 18th century novel, The History of Tom Jones. With book, lyrics, & direction by Marc Acito (Broadway's Allegiance) and music & lyrics by Amy Engelhardt (Grammy nominees The Bobs), performances begin June 14 at the cell. Opening is slated for Thursday, June 22.

The Drama League Announces Its 2018 Resident Artists

The Drama League (Gabriel Stelian-Shanks, Executive Artistic Director) has announced the theater directors and ensembles chosen to develop new plays and musicals as part of the 2018 Drama League Artist Residency Program. Public work-in-progress presentations will be held periodically throughout the year at The Drama League Theater Center, 32 Avenue of the Americas, in Tribeca. HOW THE WESTONS WON Returns for Staged Reading

Under the direction of Joe Barros (Bastard Jones, Gigi, Cagney), How The Westons Won is set for an industry staged reading at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 10, at the New York Film Academy (NYFA), 17 Battery Place, 1st Floor. The reading is part of the New Works Series of NYFA's Professional Conservatory of Musical Theatre, under the leadership of Broadway actress/educator Kristy Cates (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Finding Neverland, Wicked).

New Musical THE ACCIDENTAL CLUB Explores Accidental Overdose

Female singing legends, who died from accidental overdose, share their secrets and insights about fame, addiction, life and death from the other side in the dynamic new musical The Accidental Club. The show is a reminder of the impact of the accidental overdose epidemic currently plaguing America. Written and performed by Sherrie Scott, the new musical has been in development by Awareness Media for the past three years. Workshop presentations will take place on January 31st and February 1st, 2018 at 7pm at The Cell.

Wagner College Theatre presents SMALL TOWN STORY 12/1-3

This weekend, Dec. 1-3, the Wagner College Theatre will present Small Town Story in its Stage One studio theater, part of the WCT's New Works Agenda of dramatic works in progress. The musical, written by Brandon James Gwinn and Sammy Buck and directed by WCT professor Michele Pawk, will feature performances each night at 8 p.m. and matinees on Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. All performances are free, with reservations suggested by calling 718-390-3259.
