LA MIRADA THEATRE FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS presents the fourth production in its innovative and award-winning ONSTAGE Series with the Tony award-winning rock musical, AMERICAN IDIOT, music by Green Day, lyrics by Billie Joe Armstrong, book by Billie Joe Armstrong and Michael Mayer, musical direction by David O, choreography by Dana Solimando and directed by Brian Kite. AMERICAN IDIOT will preview on Friday, April 29 (with a press opening on Saturday, April 30 at 8pm) and will run through Sunday, May 15 - ONSTAGE at LA MIRADA THEATRE FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS, 14900 La Mirada Blvd. in La Mirada.

California Shakespeare Theater marks the beginning of its 25th season at the glorious Bruns Amphitheater with Shakespeare's sassiest battle royale, Much Ado About Nothing, in a newly-minted adaptation by Kenneth Lin and Jackson Gay, with additional text by Lin, and directed by Gay in her Cal Shakes debut. Roxy Regional Theater, in a multimedia partnership with CDE Lightband, will combine the music from a multi-platinum album turned into one of the most notable Broadway musicals of recent vintage, brought to life via the creativity of artists from Austin Peay State University and a dozen high-energy performers from around the USA for an eagerly anticipated production of Green Day's American Idiot, opening April 29 in Clarksville.

Green Day's American Idiot had the punk rock band's fans out in force for the band's rock opera - even if the staged version of the 2004 concept album was a little less than the sum of its parts.

William Peace Theatre concludes its 2015-16 season with the punk rock musical, AMERICAN IDIOT, April 21-24 at Kenan Auditorium on the William Peace University Campus in downtown Raleigh. This production marks the show's Raleigh premiere.

As previously announced, double platinum selling artist Newton Faulkner joins the cast of Green Day's explosive Tony Award-winning musical, AMERICAN IDIOT, on its UK tour this spring. Newton will be taking on the role of Johnny from May 2016 after Matt Thorpe, who will open the role from tonight, 19 March at the Curve Theatre, Leicester until 7 May at the New Theatre, Oxford. I saw the touring production of AMERICAN IDIOT when it played at The Peabody Opera House a while back. I was eager to see it, being a fan of Green Day's music, and this rock opera, in particular. It was a great show, but the one thing that stuck in my mind afterward wasn't the performers, or even the great songs, but instead it was the scenic design. Which brings me to New Line Theatre's intimate production of this extremely tuneful and highly politicized show; a natural for this company to tackle, since they consistently provide fuel-injected presentations of a wide range of material that covers the gamut from neglected newer shows to classics that need some new life pumped into them. It's what they do so extraordinarily well. The disconnect I felt with the touring production vanished in the cozy confines of The Marcelle, and the scenic design wasn't a distraction, instead it became a complement to the anger, frustration, and call to arms that informs this period of terrorism and paranoia in our nation's history. This is a real hit, that genuinely rocks the house! So, get your tickets now.
