These lyrics from the title song in Green Day's AMERICAN IDIOT reflect Billie Joe Armstrong's embrace of and response to the anxiety of our post 9/11 age that helped make their music the anthem for a generation. AMERICAN IDIOT was recorded as a 'punk rock opera' and won a Grammy in 2005 before it was adapted into an award-winning Broadway musical in 2009.

In celebration of AMERICAN IDIOT's return to London this week, from Friday 8 July 2016, the critically acclaimed and celebrated UK production of Green Day's hit musical has released a selection of exclusive behind the scenes images from the show. 

Made possible by the producers of the high-octane rock musical AMERICAN IDIOT, Globe Telecom and 9 Works Theatrical, BroadwayWorld.com (BWW) readers Maxine Dimaano, Aundrea Bunyi, Jerico Ranin, and Lemuel Villanueva, together with their guests, scored tickets to the show via a digital lottery. At last night's performance at the sprawling amphitheater within the new Globe Iconic Store at Bonifacio High Street, these lucky lottery winners also had the chance to hang out a bit with the show's producers, cast, and crew.

Live theater in the Philippines has entered a new dawn. The Globe Iconic Store in the busy Bonifacio High Street is now home of a humongous open-air theatre--complete with video boards--aimed to reach out to new theater audiences in the metro, which telco company Globe calls 'accidental theater.' For its maiden offering, Globe has partnered with one of the Philppines' multi-awarded theater companies, 9 Works Theatrical ('Grease,' 'La Cage Aux Folles'), to stage the Philippine premiere of the rock Broadway musical AMERICAN IDIOT.

Ron May, Stray Cat Theatre's founding artistic director, has further propelled his arc of artistic excellence with a stunning staging of AMERICAN IDIOT, and, in turn, reveals the work's continued relevance. The production is a triumph in every sense of the word. May can lay claim to a trifecta of oomphs!

Norby David, the former bassist and vocalist of alternative rock band Rivermaya, has joined the cast of the Manila premiere of the rock opera AMERICAN IDIOT by Green Day, which played to full houses and received standing ovations on its opening weekend (June 24-26) at the Globe Iconic Store's amphitheater on Bonifacio High Street in Taguig City.

Stray Cat will be setting up shop in our new permanent alley this summer at Tempe Center for the Arts in their Studio Theatre for the 1st ever local production of GREEN DAY'S AMERICAN IDIOT.

Sometimes it seems there is so much theater happening that it's difficult to keep track of it all. From personal experience, despite all the datebooks, smart phones, tablets, desktop computers and laptops...it's hard to keep everything straight in this wacky business of the show.

As exhilaratingly in-your-face as only the very best of contemporary theater can deliver, Green Day's American Idiot - now onstage in a startlingly emphatic and exuberant production at Clarksville's Roxy Regional Theatre - exemplifies just how far the company itself has come since its beginnings as a community theater.
