Rooftop Films Announces 2019 Summer Series Feature Selections

Rooftop Films is proud to announce select feature films for their 2019 Summer Series, presented by SundanceTV! This year's series will take place from May 17th to August 23rd, featuring more than 45 outdoor screenings in more than a dozen spectacular outdoor venues, with live music, filmmaker appearances, and special enhanced screenings of the best, new, independent films from around the world.

Hallmark Channel's 'Countdown to Summer' Programming Event Lineup Adds New Film

As temperatures around the country begin to rise and people yearn for the longer days ahead, viewers will enjoy an entire month of summer-inspired movies when Hallmark Channel premieres four all-new original movies in May. The programming event kicks off with 'Paris, Wine & Romance' (working title) (Saturday, May 4, 9 p.m. ET/PT) followed by 'A Feeling of Home' (Saturday, May 11, 9 p.m. ET/PT), and 'Sailing into Love' (Saturday, May 18, 9 p.m. ET/PT), 'From Friend to Fiancé' (Saturday, May 25, 9 p.m. ET/PT) and 'Love in the Sun' (Monday, May 27, 9 p.m. ET/PT).'

BWW Review: SCHOOL GIRLS; OR, THE AFRICAN MEAN GIRLS PLAY: Light Privilege

SpeakEasy Stage Company presents the New England premiere of the 2018 Lucille Lortel Award-winner for Outstanding Play (tie), Jocelyn Bioh's SCHOOL GIRLS; OR, THE AFRICAN MAN GIRLS PLAY, directed by Summer L. Williams. A Ghanaian-American playwright, Bioh sets the play in 1986 at a top boarding school in Ghana. The action centers on self-anointed queen bee Paulina (Ireon Roach) who aspires to win the Miss Ghana Beauty Pageant in order to represent her country in the coveted Miss Global Universe Pageant. When Headmistress Francis (Crystin Gilmore) introduces Ericka (Victoria Byrd), a new student from Ohio, just before the audition, Paulina is unexpectedly faced with a formidable challenger, not just for the competition, but also for the attentions and loyalty of her crew.

Tickets Now On Sale For The So-fi Festival At Westbeth

The June 2019 So-fi festival announces that it will be presenting works at The Clemente's Los Kabayitos and Flamboyan Theaters (107 Suffolk St. between Rivington & Delancey) and Westbeth (463 West Street between Bethune and West 12th St) June 6th-23rd 2019.

Virginia Repertory Theatre Presents THE WIZ

Virginia Repertory Theatre announces the opening of The Wiz on Friday, June 21, 2019 at the November Theatre/Arenstein Stage, 114 West Broad Street. The show will run through Sunday, August 4, 2019.

The Ensemble Theatre Announces Its 2019-2020 Season

The Ensemble Theatre Artistic Director, Eileen J. Morris, announces the theatre's 2019-2020 season including a commissioned world premiere and five regional premieres packed with drama, comedy and musical performances; and a series of alternative programing, youth initiatives, and fundraising events.

Marshall Announces Solo Album 'Layers'

 Genre-defying artist and songwriter Marshall announces that his solo debut album Layerswill be released June 21st. With this news comes the new single and album stand-out track “Mr Parachute,” featuring award-winning artist Jocelyn Alice.  The compelling music video, directed by Chris Stacey, features Alice, along with actress Lauren Sweetser (True Detective) and World of Dance breakout star and finalist Briar Nolet.

Toronto LGBT Film Festival, Inside Out, Announces Lineup

The 29th annual Inside Out Toronto LGBT Film Festival (Inside Out), championing innovative LGBTQ filmmakers from across the globe, revealed its full feature and short film lineup. The announcement was made today by Inside Out's Executive Director Andria Wilson and the festival's Director of Programming Andrew Murphy. Inside Out, which launched the first ever annual LGBTQ Film Finance Forum, has established itself as an international home and incubator for LGBTQ emerging and established filmmakers. This year's festival will take place May 23 to June 2, 2019.

17th ANNUAL SOUTH FLORIDA CAPPIES NOMINATIONS ANNOUNCED

The Critics' Awards Program, or Cappies for short, will celebrate outstanding achievement in high school theater when students from 22 public and private schools throughout Broward and Palm Beach counties vie for top honors in the 17th Annual South Florida Cappies Awards Gala on Tuesday, May 14 at 7 p.m. in the Au-Rene Theater at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.

Lifetime Announces Premiere Dates for Three Book to Screen Titles

This summer, Lifetime brings your favorite novels to life over three consecutive weekends in June. Joining previously announced Book to Screen titles, Pride & Prejudice Atlanta premiering June 1 and Adriana Trigiani's Very Valentine on June 8, the Book to Screen summer movie series continues with three Jane Green titles. Tempting Fate, starring Alyssa Milano (Insatiable), also marks executive producer Kim Raver's (Grey's Anatomy) directorial debut, premieres on Saturday, June 15 at 8PM ET/PT. To Have and To Hold, starring Erika Christensen (Parenthood) debuts on Saturday, June 22 at 8PM ET/PT and Family Pictures, starring Justina Machado (One Day at a Time) and Elisabeth Röhm (Law & Order), airs on Saturday, June 29 at 8 PM ET/PT. Lifetime's Book to Screen series will continue later this summer with five V.C. Andrews titles, based on the Casteel Family novels.

Seward Johnson, "America's most popular sculptor;" his wife, writer and producer Cecelia Joyce Johnson; and the Middlesex County Board of Chosen Freeholders will receive the Thomas H. Kean Arts Advocacy Award during George Street Playhouse's annual gala on May 5.

Caroline Gottlieb, Visible Ink Productions, and the Beverly Hills Playhouse have announced a new production of Tom Kempinski's critically-acclaimed drama Duet for One, set for a five-week run at the Beverly Hills Playhouse. Under the direction of Allen Barton, the cast will feature Mia Christou and Howard Leder. Opening is on Friday, April 12, at 8pm. The regular running schedule is Friday and Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 7pm through May 12.
