RENT, the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning landmark rock opera from creator Jonathon Larson, makes its BlackfriarsTheatre premier in a radically reinterpreted and exciting production that is sure to be unforgettable. Being presented much closer to its initial concept off-off Broadway, the show will be staged in the round and will transform the Blackfriars thrust stage to a complete 360 degree circle with portions of the existing seating removed; making this production a must see event.

The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey's summer of comedy continues with Noel Coward's frothy delight Fallen Angels. A team of experienced pros with extensive Broadway, regional and TV experience, will perform the hilarious, madcap comedy RUMORS, by Neil Simon, at the Saint Michael's Playhouse July 17 to 27. The show will be staged, evenings at 8 p.m. July 17 to 20, and 23-27 and matinees at 2 p.m. July 20 and 27.

Westport Country Playhouse hosted an unveiling of a portrait of the late actor Jason Robards, for whom the theater is named, on Tuesday, July 9. The portrait depicts Robards in the role of Cornelius Melody in 'A Touch of the Poet' by Eugene O'Neill. Donated to the Playhouse by Robards's children, Jake and Shannon, it is displayed in the Playhouse lobby. The portrait artist is Clyde Smith of Silvermine Arts Center. Cygnet Theatre's ongoing love affair with the works of Stephen Sondheim (A Little Night Music, Sweeney Todd, Assassins) continues as their new season launches with Company, the Tony Award-winning musical exploration of marriage and commitment. Company is a musical comedy based on a book by George Furth with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. The original production premiered in 1970 and was nominated for a record-setting fourteen Tony Awards and won six. Company opens tonight, July 5th and runs through August 18.

Joanne de Simone's dark study about how peer pressure can turn social media into a murder weapon premieres in July at John Chatterton's 2013 Midtown International Theatre Festival. Making his dramatic stage debut is Ryan Bertroche. Ryan has appeared on many other stages as an international fashion model for - amongst others - Calvin Klein.

Vintage Productions presents the Toronto premiere of The Musical of Musicals (The Musical!), a satiric love-letter to the musical theatre of the 20th century. First performed at Dodger Stages in New York in 2005, the show has had long, successful runs in New York City and all over the United States, as well as in Australia and the UK. Performed in Toronto by a cast of four of the city's best musical theatre performers, The Musical of Musicals (The Musical!) is directed by Vinetta Strombergs, with musical direction by Michael Mulrooney.
