Crown City Theatre Opens NIGHT HAWKS World Premiere Tonight

Crown City Theatre Company presents a World Premiere play, NIGHT HAWKS by Dennis A. Pratt & Robert Vincent O'Neil, directed by Barry Pearl and Robert Vincent O'Neil. NIGHT HAWKS is a unique and provocative story about 2 old men caught in the crossfire of their own personal purgatory.

Cygnet Theatre to Present COMPANY, 7/5-8/18; Full Cast Announced!

Cygnet Theatre's ongoing love affair with the works of Stephen Sondheim (A Little Night Music, Sweeney Todd, Assassins) continues as their new season launches with Company, the Tony Award-winning musical exploration of marriage and commitment. Company is a musical comedy based on a book by George Furth with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. The original production premiered in 1970 and was nominated for a record-setting fourteen Tony Awards and won six. Company runs July 5th through August 18.

NEVA Opens Tonight at Kirk Douglas Theatre

'Neva,' Guillermo Calderon's politically charged play, will open tonight, June 12 as a DouglasPlus event at the Center Theatre Group/Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City. 'Neva,' which is presented in collaboration with South Coast Repertory and La Jolla Playhouse, will be performed in the theatre's rehearsal room, Upstairs @ KDT, and will play for eight performances only through June 16, 2013.

U.S. Governors and Spouses Serve as 'Reading Ambassadors' of the Scholastic Summer Challenge

NEW YORK, June 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ Regardless of their political affiliations, Governors and Governors' Spouses across the country agree that literacy is critical to success. To help children avoid the 'summer slide'the learning loss that can occur when school is out for the summer44 leaders have signed on as 'Reading Ambassadors' of the 7 th annual Scholastic Summer Challenge, a free program dedicated to keeping kids motivated to read every day all summer. Each of the Reading Ambassadors has pledged to reinforce the importance of summer reading in his or her state, and the majority have committed to hold summer reading events at a local school or library. In support of their participation, Scholastic (SCHL), the global children's publishing, education, and media company, will donate 500 books to the school of each Reading Ambassador's choice.

Mary-Arrchie's THE GLASS MENAGERIE Extends at Theater Wit Through July 28

Due to popular demand, Mary-Arrchie Theatre Co's critically acclaimed production of Tennessee Williams' classic THE GLASS MENAGERIE will add four additional weeks of performances, extending through July 28, 2013 at Theater Wit, 1229 W. Belmont Ave. The production will also play two additional weekly performances on Wednesdays at 8 pm and Saturdays at 3 pm.
