The Public Theater will officially open the New York premiere of JOSEPHINE AND I on Tuesday, March 10. Written by Olivier nominated actress and writer Cush Jumbo, and directed by Phyllida Lloyd, JOSEPHINE AND I began previews on Friday, March 27 and runs through Sunday, April 5 at Joe's Pub at The Public. Playwrights Horizons presents the world premiere of PLACEBO, a new play by Obie Award winner Melissa James Gibson (This at PH, What Rhymes with America, Suitcase, [sic], the FX series 'The Americans,' 'House of Cards' on Netflix). Directed by three-time Obie Award winner Daniel Aukin (This at PH, The Fortress of Solitude, Bad Jews, 4000 Miles, [sic]), the play is the fourth production of the theater company's 2014/2015 Season. Opening Night set for Monday, March 16 at Playwrights Horizons' Mainstage Theater (416 West 42nd Street). The show will play a limited engagement through Sunday, April 5. As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Roundabout Theatre Company's Broadway production of On the Twentieth Century will now open on Sunday, March 15, as a result of Peter Gallagher missing a week of performances due to a sinus infection. Gallagher returned to the show yesterday, but BroadwayWorld has just learned that he will be out of both performances today, March 4, and tomorrow. Gallagher is scheduled to return on Friday, March 6. Understudy James Moye will perform the role of Oscar Jaffee in his absence.

NEVERMORE - The Imaginary Life and Mysterious Death of Edgar Allan Poe, a unique theatrical experience illuminating the haunting life story of iconic writer Edgar Allan Poe, will play its final Off-Broadway performance on Sunday, March 29 at 3:00 pm at New World Stages.

Award-winning Canadian actress Chilina Kennedy, who made her Broadway debut as 'Mary Magdalene' in Jesus Christ Superstar, has nabbed the title role in Beautiful-The Carole King Musical, the smash hit musical about the early life and career of the legendary and groundbreaking singer/songwriter. Kennedy begins performances on March 7, 2015, succeeding Tony Award-winner Jessie Mueller, who will play her final performance in Beautiful on March 6 at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre (124 West 43rd Street).
