Point Foundation (Point) just honored actor Jonathan Groff, with the Point HORIZON Award. The Award recognizes a young trailblazer who has taken a leadership role as an advocate of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) community. Groff, currently starring in HBO's critically acclaimed series 'Looking' and appearing in the Public Theater's hit musical 'Hamilton,' was nominated for a Tony Award for his performance in 'Spring Awakening.' This morning, the Met Orchestra and supporters rallied in Dante Park in front of Lincoln Center before resuming federally mediated negotiations under a 72-hour threat of lockout imposed by opera manager Peter Gelb. The musicians and other Met Opera artists and craftspeople, along with elected officials in NYC and the New York Times in an editorial, have called on Peter Gelb to continue negotiating in good faith and lift his threat of lockout, which Gelb has extended to 72-hours past the contract deadline expiring at midnight last night.

NYC Parks' Queens Commissioner Dorothy Lewandowski today joined Queens Borough President Melinda Katz, Assemblywoman Margaret Markey and National Trust for Historic Preservation board member Paul Goldberger to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the opening ceremony of the 1964-65 World's Fair and announce that Flushing Meadows Corona Park's New York State Pavilion, one of the most iconic remnants of the 1964 World's Fair, has been named as one of the Trust's "National Treasures." The National Treasures program recognizes historically, culturally and architecturally important sites to raise awareness and funding for their preservation. The Pavilion is one of only 44 sites in the country to bear this designation.

In addition, Clara Miller will receive the Shining Star Award, an award traditionally given to a non-artist who has greatly impacted the arts community of NYC. Miller founded the Nonprofit Finance Fund in 1980, which radically changed how non-profits think about their financial strategies.
