Love, loss, betrayal... and America: Los Angeles County's Winter Partnership Program is back with a second season of provocative new work in 2009-10. Once again, three outstanding L.A. theater companies have been selected to present an ambitious season of premieres at [Inside] the Ford, the 87-seat state-of-the-art theater located in Hollywood's Ford Theatres complex.

BATTLE HYMN, a new play by award-winning playwright Jim Leonard, is the story of 16-year-old Martha's epic pregnancy and her incredible search for motherhood, meaning, and love in a war-torn American landscape. After being abandoned by her father, losing her true love and witnessing the horrors of the Civil War firsthand, Martha settles on one incontrovertible fact: She will not raise her baby in a blood-soaked, violent country.

Battle Hymn, Jim Leonard's critically acclaimed fantastical epic that follows a young girl's amazing pregnancy and kaleidoscopic journey through history, has been extended through March 7 at the 87-seat [Inside] the Ford in Hollywood.
The Circle X world premiere production stars Suzy Jane Hunt as the teenager who remains pregnant for 150 years while searching America for a safe time and place to have her baby. Playing multiple roles in the gender and race-bending allegory are Bill Heck; Robert Manning, Jr.; William Salyers; and John Short. John Langs directs.
