The Pen Parentis Literary Salon opens its fifteenth season with its annual Winter Poetry night on January 12, 2016. Four notable poets -- Ravi Shankar, Lydia Cortez, Karen Skolfield and Amy Dryansky -- will read from new works and discuss how they balance a career in poetry with an active young family at home.
HONKY by Greg Kalleres received its World Premiere at NYC's Award winning Theatre Company Urban Stages in the spring of 2013. The Urban Stages production, directed by Luke Harlan, received raves, and the play was subsequently remounted later that year. Due to its NY success, HONKY was produced at San Diego Rep and was filmed by PBS and OnStage in America and will receive a landmark presentation tomorrow, November 6, at 10PM (www.pbs.org/onstage-in-america/honky/home/).

The mission of Winter Rhythms is to bring the talents of known and unknown singers, musicians, lyricists and composers to the attention of the New York theater community while performing at Urban Stages Theater. Winner of the 2015 Ruth Kurtzman Benefit Series MAC Award, WINTER RHYTHMS benefits Urban Stages' acclaimed Outreach Program, which brings more than 200 free "arts in education" presentations to libraries and schools throughout the five boroughs. This year's event features 20 shows and more than 100 artists.

Just last night, he New Group just honored Founding Artistic Director Scott Elliott and celebrated its 20th Anniversary season. Scott Elliott is an award-winning stage director, filmmaker and the founding Artistic Director of The New Group, where he recently directed the critically acclaimed revival of David Rabe's Sticks and Bones. At The New Group, he has directed world premieres by Thomas Bradshaw, Ayub Khan Din, Francine Volpe, Erika Sheffer and Tommy Nohilly; and the world premiere of the 2010 musical The Kid (Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding New Off-Broadway Musical; Drama Desk and Lucille Lortel Award nominations for Outstanding Musical). Other credits include The New Group's The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie starring Cynthia Nixon; David Rabe's Hurlyburly; and numerous collaborations with Ayub Khan Din, Wallace Shawn and Mike Leigh.
