Returning to Gould Hall for the first time since 2011, the Company will give the New York City Premiere of Tom Gold Dance Founder and Director Tom Gold's Apparatus Hominus.
Returning to the Berkshires for the fourth consecutive summer, Tom Gold Dance will give the World Premiere of Company Founder and Director Tom Gold's Apparatus Hominus, Friday, July 27 with an encore presentation Saturday, July 28 at TurnPark Art Space, a new cultural, recreational, and exhibition space on the site of a former lime quarry in West Stockbridge, Massachusetts. The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel has announced the Cafe Carlyle's winter 2017 season, which features the venue debuts of TV star, comedian and writer Jill Kargman; fashion icon, author and pop culture fixture Isaac Mizrahi; and seminal singer/songwriter Suzanne Vega; as well as the return of audience favorites John Lloyd Young and Joan Osborne.
Jill Kargman is a pleasant singer. Her voice is lovely, in fact, but that is not why audiences joined her inside the legendary Cafe Carlyle for a string of sold-out performances which began on January 17. No, patrons made their way to the Upper East Side venue on this damp winter evening to hear Kargman's hilarious and often cringe-inducing war stories from her New York City upbringing, through her entrance into show business and Manhattan motherhood. Kargman, whose bawdy humor and unapologetic crudeness undoubtedly had some in the room blushing into their cocktails (her euphemism for the mouth, in particular, is a tickler) saliently strung the show together with influential songs from her past which she deemed 'wildly sexist,' and which she was 're-appropriating as a 42-year-old Jewish female.'
