One of the 20th century's most influential, innovative and provocative artists will be the subject of a special birthday tribute over the weekend of February 8-10, 2013, when the New World Symphony, America's Orchestral Academy (NWS), presents Making the Right Choices: A John Cage Centennial Celebration at the New World Center (500 17th Street).

Orchestra of St. Luke's (OSL) has just announced the release of the seventh album on its record label St. Luke's Collection: a live recording of Schoenberg and Riehn's masterful chamber arrangement of Gustav Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde. The work was performed to great acclaim in September 2011 by St. Luke's Chamber Ensemble with conductor George Manahan, mezzo-soprano Jennifer Johnson Cano and tenor Paul Groves at Baryshnikov Arts Center (BAC).

Theatre Communications Group (TCG) has announced the availability of Desdemona by Toni Morrison, with lyrics by Rokia Traore, published by Oberon Books in London. This re-imagining of Shakespeare's Othello includes a foreword by Peter Sellars, who directed the piece at Barbican Concert Hall in London in July.

Cape Town Opera returns to the UK this June & July for a tour of their acclaimed Porgy and Bess, culminating in a two week run at the London Coliseum. Tsakane Maswanganyi, who previously thrilled audiences in the title role of Carmen Jones at the Royal Festival Hall will play Bess, while Xolela Sixaba will reprise the role of Porgy having won great acclaim for his performance in 2009.

Performances of THE PRINCE AND THE SHOWBOY and THE BENNY GOLSON QUARTET with Nnenna Freelon have been added as upcoming performances at the Rrazz Room.
