In the Baptist backwoods of the Bible Belt, the beleaguered Turpin family proves that living and dying in the South is seldom tidy and always hilarious.
'The Red Velvet Cake War' captures all of the drama and love found in family get togethers. No matter what side of the Mason-Dixon line you are from. The charm of the play is its hodgepodge of southern sweetness, sass and shenanigans. It is a silly, lighthearted play, seasoned like a southern sitcom set in good ol' Sweetgum Texas.

I admit freely that I'm a huge fan of silly. I love English television comedy most because the Brits have a way of making fun of themselves in the most outrageously ridiculous situations, they never take comedy seriously. The Georgetown Palace Playhouse's production of DEARLY DEPARTED, while far from British, takes a page from the same book of silly with a no holes barred approach to laugh out loud theatre.
"We have a great cast," said Hill Country Community Theatre executive director Mike Rademaekers in reference to the theatre's upcoming production of "The Red Velvet Cake War". "This is going to be a great comedy! We're already laughing and having a lot of fun!"

In Fayro, there's a charming and pleasant climate where even the worst disputes can be resolved with a bit of hope and optimism. We can all use a bit of that.
CHRISTMAS BELLES. Christmas-time in the Lone Star State - but the Futrelle sisters of Fayro, Texas, are not exactly in a festive mood. Frankie is overdue with twins, Twink's in jail, and Honey Raye is trying to keep the Tabernacle of the Lamb's Christmas pageant from spiraling out of control. Throw in a kidney-stone passing Santa, vengeful sheep, an Elvis impersonator, and a long-kept family secret and, in true Texas fashion, you've got joy to the world.'
