 Talea Ensemble continues its 15th anniversary season with Talea at 15 on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 7:30 p.m. at The DiMenna Center for Classical Music, followed by Columbia Composers Presents Talea Ensemble on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. at The DiMenna Center for Classical Music.

The Talea Ensemble – comprised of sixteen bold and boundary-breaking  musicians, with a mission to champion musical creativity, cultivate curious listeners, and bring visionary new works to life – today announces its fifteenth and 2023-2024 season of performances. New York audiences can anticipate multiple world and US premieres, a special winter solstice concert, public showcases of two new operas in the workshopping process, numerous commissions, and a recording residency.

On Sunday November 15, Long Beach Opera (LBO) presented Songbook, an online  program of 20 new songs by relatively unknown composers. It was LBO board member, Raulee Marcus, who had the idea to commission songs rather than have a gala fundraiser. LBO created a list of established opera composers who had some link to the company and asked them to be mentors. An illustrious quintet of successful composers: Anthony Davis, David Lang, George Lewis, Annie Gosfield, and Du Yun all accepted.

Either/Or ensemble, known for their adventurous programming (CMA/ASCAP), will join forces with Jessie Cox to present his new and innovative opera that crosses genre boundaries of New Classical Music, Free Jazz, Electronics and more; and could be related to the works of Sun Ra, Lachenmann, or the Art Ensemble of Chicago.
