As we previously reported, Roger Rees, the legendary, Tony Award-winning actor, and Tony Award nominated director, passed away last night at his home in New York City, after a brief journey with cancer. His husband,Rick Elice, and family and friends were at his side.

Beyond the Music, a new musical with original book and direction by Tony Award winner Andy Sandberg (Hair; The Last Smoker in America) and a fresh and exhilarating pop-rock score by multiple Emmy Award-winner Cliff Downs and Katie Kahanovitz, will have invitation-only readings in New York on October 17 and 18th, 2011.

Roger Rees Extends THE ADDAMS FAMILY Run Through Closing on December 31

Tony Award winner Roger Rees has extended his contract and will continue as Gomez in the hit musical THE ADDAMS FAMILY for an additional two months through the show's final performance on Saturday, December 31 at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre (205 West 46th Street). Rees plays opposite stage and screen star Brooke Shields as Morticia.

THE ADDAMS FAMILY to Close on Broadway December 31

The Broadway production of the hit musical comedy THE ADDAMS FAMILY will end its run at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre (205 West 46th St.) December 31 after 725 performances and 34 previews. Since beginning previews on March 8 2009, THE ADDAMS FAMILY has been seen by more than 748,000 people. Prior to Broadway, THE ADDAMS FAMILY played an 8 week engagement at the Oriental Theatre in Chicago, where it grossed more than $12 million, making it the most successful Broadway tryout in Chicago's history. The national tour of THE ADDAMS FAMILY launches on Sept 15 at the Mahalia Jackson Theatre for the Performing Arts in New Orleans and is booked in more than 30 cities through 2012. Productions of THE ADDAMS FAMILY are set to open in Sao Paulo, Brazil in the spring of 2012 and Sydney, Australia in spring 2013, with several more international productions to be announced soon.

Brooke Shields Extends Run In THE ADDAMS FAMILY Through 2011

Stage and screen star Brooke Shields will extend her run as Morticia in the hit musical THE ADDAMS FAMILY for an additional two months through Saturday, December 31 at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre (205 West 46th Street). Shields had originally planned to end her limited engagement on Sunday, October 30. 'I am having the time of my life playing Morticia with this wonderful company of actors. Morticia is such a delicious role and THE ADDAMS FAMILY is such a fantastic and iconic piece of entertainment that I just couldn't resist the invitation to extend,' said Shields.

On Tuesday, June 28 THE ADDAMS FAMILY welcomed stage and screen star Brooke Shields in the role of Morticia. Ms. Shields joined current Broadway cast members Roger Rees as Gomez, Brad Oscar as Fester, Rachel Potter as Wednesday, Jackie Hoffman as Grandma, Zachary James as Lurch, Adam Riegler as Pugsley, Heidi Blickenstaff as Alice Beineke, Adam Grupper as Mal Beineke and Jesse Swenson as Lucas Beineke. In the video below, Shields visits 'Late Night with Jimmy Fallon' where she discusses being back on Broadway. Click below to check it out!
