Video highlights of the 2010 Olivier Awards!

Reprise Theatre Company presents An Intimate Evening with Marvin Hamlisch for one performance only on Monday, March 22 at 8:00 pm, at UCLA's Freud Playhouse.

A feature in the New York Times has taken a look at the possible poster designs for the upcoming revival of LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, starring Kelsey Grammar and Douglas Hodge. In attempting to choose a poster for the show, producer Sonia Friedman looked at several possible designs and chose the one she felt best represented the show.

Big band sound transforms the Lincoln Theatre into a Duke Ellington jazz club as Arena Stage presents Duke Ellington's Sophisticated Ladies, choreographed by and starring Maurice Hines (Broadway's Sophisticated Ladies and Uptown... It's Hot!) with direction by Charles Randolph-Wright (Arena's Guys and Dolls and Blue).

The music of The King himself, Elvis Presley, is coming to the stage at The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre when the area premiere of All Shook Up opens on Friday, April 9th at the theatre. A fast-paced, fun-loving musical romp, it's the perfect show to usher in the spring!

This week we are taking a listen to two wonderful releases from Broadway and West End luminaries John Barrowman and Elaine Paige. Though both have appeared on Broadway, Barrowman in PUTTING IT TOGETHER and Paige in SUNSET BLVD as well as an acclaimed appearance in SWEENEY TODD at City Opera, they are best known for their fantastic work on the West End stage, Barrowman having created roles in MATADOR and THE FIX and Paige having a legendary career creating such impressive roles as Evita, Piaf, Grizabella in CATS, Florence in CHESS, as well as THE DROWSEY CHAPERONE and other appearances in addition to a multi-decade recording and concert career. This could not be a more prescient time to discuss either of these two powerful performers: Paige, with her excellent weekly radio show on BBC Radio, and Barrowman with an upcoming multi-episode arc on ABC's DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES beginning this Sunday...

The box office at the Longacre Theatre is now open for LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, the critically acclaimed Olivier Award-winning production of the Tony Award-winning musical comedy. The Longacre Theatre box office (220 West 48th Street) is open from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Monday through Saturday. Starting April 11, Sunday hours are 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM. On Monday, March 15th, The Actors Fund presented the next in their series of Musical Mondays in the lobby of the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood.

Marcia Milgrom Dodge, whose critically acclaimed production of 'Ragtime' transferred from the Kennedy Center to Broadway last fall and is nominated for six Helen Hayes Awards, will direct and choreograph the Reprise Theatre Company production of the 1962 Pulitzer Prize winner 'How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.'

Beginning March 16, tickets for the upcoming Broadway revival of La Cage Aux Folles will become available at the box office of the Longacre Theatre. Located at 220 West 48th Street, the box-office is open 10 AM-8 PM Monday through Saturday, and on Sundays 12 PM-7 PM beginning April 11. Standing O Productions recently opened its third season with THE MUSICAL OF MUSICALS: THE MUSICAL ... a parody of (you guessed it) Broadway musicals.

The New York Philharmonic will present SONDHEIM: The Birthday Concert on March 15 and Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at 7:30 p.m. This celebration of the 80th birthday of the great Broadway and film composer/lyricist will include his most enduring orchestral music and songs - performed, in some cases, by the stars of the original Broadway cast productions - in addition to rarely-heard material. Joining the celebration will be (in alphabetical order) Michael Cerveris, Victoria Clark, Jason Danieley, Nathan Gunn, George Hearn, Patti LuPone, Marin Mazzie, Audra McDonald, Donna Murphy, Mandy Patinkin, Bernadette Peters, and others to be announced, including surprise guests. Paul Gemignani, Mr. Sondheim's longtime collaborator, will conduct the New York Philharmonic; Lonny Price is the director; and Mr. Price and Matt Cowart are the producers.

CLARE BURT - the acclaimed West End stage star who helped introduce London audiences to shows like Nine, Into The Woods, Sunday In The Park With George, and Passion - will make her New York performance debut next month.

FEINSTEIN'S AT LOEWS REGENCY, the nightclub proclaimed 'Best of New York' by New York Magazine and 'an invaluable New York institution' by The New York Post, will continue its all-star Spring 2010 season with the debut engagement of Grammy Award nominated vocalist MARILYN MAYE. Performances will be from March 2 to 13, 2010.

The New York Daily News is reporting that in a surprise twist, LA CAGE AUX FOLLES star Kelsey Grammer, who had been announced to play the role of Georges, will in fact be doubling as both leads, Georges and Albin, in six month stints.

The 2010 Olivier Awards will take place on 21 March 2010 at the Grosvenor House Hotel, with Spring Awakening, Enron, Jerusalem and A Little Night Music among the standouts of the season with the most nominations. The Laurence Olivier Awards were established in 1976 as The Society of West End Theatre Awards, and Lord Olivier agreed to have his name associated with them in 1984. The Awards are run by The Society of London Theatre but are adjudicated by panels that are equally made up of members of the theatregoing public and experts chosen for their knowledge and professional experience.
