The third night of performances at the Mabel Mercer Foundation's 29th Cabaret Convention was a feast for the eyes and ears. Hosted by the dynamic Klea Blackhurst, the full house of the Rose Theater at Jazz at Lincoln Center gathered to witness the showcase of many powerhouse performances by cabaret greats, saluting the music of the incomparable Jerry Herman.

One of the most beloved musicals of all time, Jerry Herman's energetic Hello, Dolly! is a musical filled with charisma and with heart. Dolly Levi is a widow, a matchmaker, and also a professional meddler --but everything changes when she decides that the next match she needs to make is to find someone for herself. Set in New York City at the turn of the century, Hello, Dolly! is boisterous and charming from start to finish. Featuring such memorable songs as 'Before the Parade Passes By,' 'It Only Takes a Moment,' 'Put on Your Sunday Clothes,' and 'Hello, Dolly!' this musical will appeal to all ages.

For three decades, the unofficial launch of 'autumn in New York' has been marked by the annual Cabaret Convention of The Mabel Mercer Foundation. This year, their four individual concerts will once again be presented at 6 p.m. at the Rose Theater, Jazz at Lincoln Center, beginning Today, October 9thand running through Friday, October 12th. More than seventy diverse vocalists -- ranging in age from seventeen to ninety -- are scheduled to entertain; thirteen of these will make their New York Cabaret Convention debuts during the 2018 performances.

Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) announces that Tony Award nominated Brenda Braxton joins the cast of the 2018 TRU Love Benefit, 'The Power of Community: Bringing People Together Through the Arts.' The event will honor legendary A Chorus Line co-star and co-founder of the National Asian Artists Project Baayork Lee, who will receive the TRU Spirit of Theater Award for a lifetime of creating opportunities for Asian artists; and off-off-Broadway maverick, creator of the former OOBR Awards and the Midtown International Theatre Festival, John Chatterton who will receive the TRU Entrepreneur Award for providing 17 years of developmental opportunities for a range of independent theater artists. On December 20, character actress Farley Cadena suffered an ischemic stroke, which left her unable to speak clearly, sing, or read. But she fought back, with this self-penned show helping in her rehabilitation. Cadena includes a number of familiar as well as obscure Broadway songs - with lyrics occasionally tweaked - to help illustrate her dilemma. The result is a moving, frightening, and also hilarious show about resilience and strength of character.
