The Broadway at Birdland concert series was proud to once again present singer/pianist Steve Ross in a new show called "An American In Paris" on Monday, October 1.
In this new concert, long-time Francophile Steve Ross celebrated the beautiful city of Paris. Featured were songs by American writers including Cole Porter, Harold Arlen, Yip Harburg, Oscar Hammerstein II, Jerome Kern, Jerry Herman and Irving Berlin. Songs included were "April in Paris," "Harlem on Her Mind," "The Last Time I Saw Paris," "Can-Can," and "I Love Paris." Also included were songs by French and Parisian-based writers Charles Trenet and Jacques Brel, including "La Mer" and "Jackie." The sold-out house cheered a special Paris in Hollywood section featuring songs from "Gigi," and Steve's pianistic tribute to the melodies made famous by the incomparable Edith Piaf.
