A beloved tradition with roots back to the early 1900s returns to South Philadelphia this coming weekend. The Annual St. Nicholas of Tolentine Authentic Italian Festival will bring out thousands of people on Sunday, October 1, 2023, to the 1700 Block of South 9th Street.

The Kimmel Cultural Campus and The Philadelphia Orchestra, the region’s premier center for multi-disciplinary performing arts and cultural events, announces its 2023–2024 season, welcoming audiences back to experience the magic of live art. With over 2,000 events annually across multiple venues, the lineup features everything from orchestral music to Broadway, jazz to comedy, contemporary dance to ballet, opera to rock, and much more.

The Kimmel Cultural Campus will present A Tribute to Jerry Blavat, a one-night-only event in the Academy of Music on Saturday, October 21 celebrating Philadelphia’s iconic radio DJ, the late Jerry Blavat.

The song was originally released as the b-side of the “Shake It Little Tina” 7” inch vinyl in 2015, and is now available on streaming services for the first time. Low Cut Connie spoke about Blavat’s legacy with Rolling Stone, who called the song “...a brief blast of what endeared Blavat to Philadelphia and fascinated those outside the city.”

Kimmel Cultural Campus has announced the much-anticipated return of in-person performing arts across their venues: the Kimmel Center, the Academy of Music, and the Merriam Theater. On September 18, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., Kimmel Cultural Campus will host a grand reopening event in Commonwealth Plaza to celebrate the start of the 2021-22 season.

The Geator is at it again! Nationally-renowned radio icon Jerry Blavat celebrates his 30th show at the Kimmel Center bringing The Ultimate Doo Wop Reunion on Saturday, April 19 at 8 p.m. in Verizon Hall. The best of the Doo Wop era returns for an encore performance at the Kimmel Center to reinterpret classics in the 50s and 60s from the American Songbook performed with a unique blend of vocal harmonizing style and R&B flavors.
