Klea Blackhurst To Perform In SHOW BOAT, Merman Tribute At Glimmerglass Festival

Klea Blackhurst will perform her one-woman show featuring tunes made famous by Ethel Merman at The Glimmerglass Festival on Sunday, July 28, at 6:00 p.m. Additionally, Blackhurst will portray Parthy Ann Hawks in the Festival's performances of Show Boat, running July 6 through August 24. Blackhurst replaces Christine Ebersole, whose commitments have changed this summer due to professional reasons, including her role in the new CBS comedy series Bob Hearts Abishola.

The Statue of Liberty Museum on Liberty Island opened to the public today following a dedication ceremony presented by The Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation, Inc. The ceremony featured performances by Tony Award Nominee Laura Osnes, Tony Award Nominee Lilli Cooper and Javier Muñoz. They paid tribute to Irving Berlin by performing some of his iconic songs including 'God Bless America,' 'Give Me Your Tired, Your Poor,''Shaking the Blues Away,' and 'Blue Skies' to celebrate the opening of this new museum.

Television through the years: shared musical memories through a magical box. Lyrics & Lyricists closes its 2019 season with a loving look at the songs written for or introduced on the small screen that shaped our culture and connected us all. The set we watched together in the den gave us songs by great musical theater writers such as Rodgers & Hammerstein, Stephen Sondheim and Cole Porter, specials by Judy Garland and Frank Sinatra, nights with Ed Sullivan and theme songs whose lyrics have a permanent place in our hearts. Live and In Living Color includes songs such as "Love and Marriage", Steve Allen's "This Could Be the Start of Something", songs from Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella, and a medley of beloved TV theme songs.

Nettle Creek Players, a 501c3 not-for-profit arts organization in Hagerstown, Indiana, has announced its 2019 troupe of visiting professional theatre artists who will live in the community for nine weeks as they prepare and present the Nettle Creek Players 2019 Summer Stock Tent Theatre Season featuring productions of JOSEPH & THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT, GERSHWIN & FRIENDS: A BROADWAY SONGBOOK CABARET, and RUMPELSTILTSKIN, OR THE FAIRIE'S SECRET NAME. Performances of JOESPH will be at 7:30pm on July 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20, 25, 26 & 27 & 5:00pm on July 7 with GERSHWIN & FRIENDS at 5:00pm on July 14, 21 & 28 and RUMPELSTILTSIKIN at 11:00am on July 20 & 27. All performances will take place in the Nettle Creek Players Show Tent at 150 N. Plum Street in historic downtown Hagerstown, Indiana.
