92Y announces more cast names and new creative team members for Lyrics & Lyricists 2019. Under the helm of L&L producer Ted Chapin, the series brings artists from theater and beyond to present original revues featuring award-winning Broadway and cabaret performers illuminating the American Songbook.

On November 12 at Kaufman Music Center's Merkin Hall, Broadway Close Up host SEAN HARTLEY interviewed ETHAN MORDDEN, author of When Broadway Went to Hollywood, exploring how songwriters like Rodgers & Hart, Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, Yip Harburg, Irving Berlin and the Gershwin brothers navigated the often antagonistic culture of Hollywood with different degrees of success - and why they ultimately returned to Broadway.

In the wake of his successful New York engagements, Roger Schmelzer will put the American Songbook to generous and charming use once again in an upbeat, tuneful evening at Germano's Piattini in Baltimore on November 10 at 7:30pm, directed by Marilyn Maye.

PS CLASSICS, the label that celebrates the heritage of Broadway and American popular song, has released its groundbreaking new recording Philip Chaffin: Will He Like Me? today, Friday, November 9. Broadway actress-singer Raissa Katona Bennett has a very full and exciting calendar of performances this fall. Having just concluded the off-Broadway run of Spoolie Girl, she's setting her sights on cabaret and concert performances through the New Year.

FEINSTEIN'S/54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club, presents 54 Sings As Thousands Cheer on May 24, 2018 at 9:30 PM. Before there was SNL, The Daily Show, and Last Week Tonight, there was As Thousands Cheer, Irving Berlin and Moss Hart's famed musical revue. Opening on Broadway in September 1933, As Thousands Cheer brought laughter and joy to audiences at the Music Box Theatre. Now, 85 years after its Broadway premiere and 20 years since its last production in New York, Feinstein's/54 Below and a cast of New York's finest perform Irving Berlin's score. With classic songs including "Easter Parade," "How's Chances?," "Heat Wave," and "Harlem On My Mind,"  As Thousands Cheer will be a delightful evening of comedy, politics, showstopping songs, and everything in between!

Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein II touched off an earthquake in Musical Theater with their 1927 musicalized version of Edna Ferber's 'Show Boat.'  A new iteration of 'Show Boat' has shoved off from the dock inside the MTH Theater on the third level of Crown Center for what will be pleased audiences.

Isaac Mizrahi returns to Cafe Carlyle with an all-new show, Isaac Mizrahi: Queen Size, February 5 - 16. His previous two residencies in the room were sellouts, receiving widespread critical acclaim. Mizrahi will perform classics by Leonard Bernstein, Cat Stevens, Jimmy Webb, John Kander, Cole Porter, James Taylor and Jerome Kern. Once again, he'll be joined by his band of (handsome, thin, single) (maybe not single) jazz musicians, led by Ben Waltzer. With all-new stories and observations, Mizrahi will also have a fresh stock of swag items to re-gift to audience members. No topics will be off-limits: politics, sex, prescription drugs, millennials. In a review of his Cafe debut, The New York Times noted "he is determined to challenge the cultural status quo and help blaze a path into a more liberated future… his Cafe Carlyle engagement is a big deal." Vogue called his previous Cafe residency, "the hottest ticket at New York Fashion Week."

Last year, after a 20-year hiatus, West End favourite Lorna Dallas (who originally came to prominence in this country when she co-starred opposite Dame Cleo Laine in the landmark revival of Jerome Kern's "Show Boat") returned to the London cabaret stage in her new show, "Home Again."

Hair is a great big hit on the symbolic and mostly imaginary bong that is theater in Music City - or anywhere else artists come together to share the largesse of their own indomitable spirits. The resulting production will leave you inspired, maybe even more readily equipped with the realities of life in the 21st century, which proves that no matter how much times have changed, they remain stultifyingly the same. While our prejudices and biases may have been altered by the social upheaval of the 1960s and the decades that followed, introspection reveals that we only have refocused our baser instincts on issues of equal significance.

The Philly POPS will make its 40th Anniversary Season debut with performances by Broadway star Leslie Odom Jr. on September 28, 29 and 30 at the Kimmel Center.
