A haunting tale of obsession, the internationally acclaimed Richard Jones production of Tchaikovsky's The Queen of Spades opens Houston Grand Opera's (HGO) 2010 spring repertory. Performances run April 16 - May 1, 2010 in the Brown Theater of the Wortham Theater Center. Opera News calls Richard Jones's production of The Queen of Spades, originally created for Welsh National Opera 'telling theatricality.' The Wooster Group Presents the production of 'North Atlantic', text by James Strahs?, directed by Elizabeth LeCompte. Performances will be from February 10 to 21.

The LA Opera's 2010-2011 season has been announced, and will begin on September 23 with the world premiere of Daniel Catán's IL POSTINO (THE POSTMAN). IL POSTINO will play through October 16 and star Placido Domingo. Ron Daniels will direct with scene and costume design by Riccardo Hernandez (Tony Award winner) and lighting design by Jennifer Tipton (two-time Tony Award winner).
