THE GLASS MENAGERIE Opens at the CTG/Mark Taper Forum, 9/12

A fresh interpretation of Tennessee Williams' haunting memory play 'The Glass Menagerie' opens at the Center Theatre Group/Mark Taper Forum at the Los Angeles Music Center on Sunday, September 12 at 7 p.m. Previews are currently underway and performances continue through October 17, 2010.

Murphy and Hallberg to Lead ABT's THE NUTCRACKER 12/23

American Ballet Theatre Principal Dancers Gillian Murphy and David Hallberg will lead the cast of the World Premiere of Alexei Ratmansky's all-new production of The Nutcracker, Thursday, December 23, 2010 at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Advance tickets go on sale Wednesday, August 25, 2010.

Nominations Announced for 2010 Hewes Design Awards

Nine theater artists will be honored by the Henry Hewes Design Awards Committee during the presentation of its 46th Annual Awards in a luncheon ceremony this fall. Eighty-one theater artists were nominated for outstanding artistry in 46 productions presented during the 2009-2010 New York theater season. Redcat Announces Fall 2010 Season of Contemporary Visual, Performing & Media Art

Today Executive Director Mark Murphy and Gallery Director Clara Kim announced REDCAT's Fall 2010 Season. Kicking off on September 16, 2010 with projects in both the theater and gallery, REDCAT gathers artists of diverse backgrounds and disciplines from around the world, encouraging exploration and discovery among its artists as well as its patrons. The season opening features a world premiere by legendary Indonesian choreographer Sardono W. Kusumo in collaboration with renowned lighting designer Jennifer Tipton; and the Los Angeles debut presentation of two pioneers of video art in China, Zhang Peili and Zhu Jia.

The 17th Annual Merritt Award for Excellence in Design and Collaboration program, posthumously honoring and celebrating the work of lighting and set designer Michael Philippi (Desire Under the Elms, Death of a Salesman), 'an esteemed longtime collaborator and friend', will take place on Monday, May 3, at the Goodman Theatre.

Houston Grand Opera to Present THE QUEEN OF SPADES, 4/16-5/1

A haunting tale of obsession, the internationally acclaimed Richard Jones production of Tchaikovsky's The Queen of Spades opens Houston Grand Opera's (HGO) 2010 spring repertory. Performances run April 16 - May 1, 2010 in the Brown Theater of the Wortham Theater Center. Opera News calls Richard Jones's production of The Queen of Spades, originally created for Welsh National Opera 'telling theatricality.' London's Observer wrote 'Once every few seasons, a production gets pretty much everything right. This is one ... dramatically spine-chilling, visually spare and coherent; it was the kind of theatrical experience which changes the way you look at life.'

Roundabout Theatre Company in association with Long Wharf Theatre opened Tennessee Williams' The Glass Menagerie, last night, March 24. Directed by Gordon Edelstein, the production stars Patch Darragh (Tom Wingfield), two-time Tony® Award winner Judith Ivey (Amanda Wingfield), Keira Keeley (Laura Wingfield), and Michael Mosley (Jim O'Connor). Performances began on Friday, March 5th, 2010 at the Laura Pels Theatre at the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre This will be a limited engagement through May 30th, 2010.
