Atlantic Theater Company has announced commissions of six new plays by Jocelyn Bioh, Jennifer Haley, Paola Lazaro, Qui Nguyen, Heidi Schreck, and Simon Stephens and Mark Eitzel.

While preparing to open "Melancholy Play: A Contemporary Farce" by Sarah Ruhl on Thursday, March 24 at The Henry Clay Theatre, Artistic Director Tony Prince and Producing Director Richard McGrew announce the 2016-2017 season of The Liminal Playhouse. 

Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company announces its next production of Season 36: The Nether, by Blackburn Prize-winning playwright Jennifer Haley. Directed by Shana Cooper and featuring notable D.C. actor Ed Gero in his first appearance at Woolly, The Nether will run from April 4 to May 1, 2016.

Adam Rapp returns to The Flea with WOLF IN THE RIVER. Featuring members of The Bats, The Flea's resident acting company, WOLF IN THE RIVER is written and directed by Rapp. Previews start tonight, March 10, with opening night slated for Monday, March 21.

Kauffman's deft hand with the quirky work of contemporary playwrights has earned her awards in NY and regionally.

On March 13th, The Flea Theater and Project1VOICE are teaming up for a one-night-only event to honor the 40th anniversary of Ntozake Shange's for colored girls who have considered suicide / when the rainbow is enuf.

Rapp directs his newest play with a cast from The Flea's resident acting company, The Bats.

As a part of their innovative new Membership model, Third Rail announced their Summer and Fall programming at a public event on Monday night. 'In an effort to keep pushing ourselves to innovate,' says Artistic Director Scott Yarbrough, 'this is the first step in a new process. Commissioned by Playwrights Horizons and directed by Obie Award winner Anne Kauffman (Detroit, Maple and Vine, Your Mother's Copy of the Kama Sutra at PH; Belleville; This Wide Night; The Thugs), the play is the third production of the theater company's 2015/2016 Season. The production opens tonight, December 14, at Playwrights Horizons' Mainstage Theater (416 West 42nd Street), and will play a limited engagement through Sunday, January 3.

Leave it to the ambitious and creative people of Nashville's Actors Bridge Ensemble to continue the celebration of the company's 20th anniversary season with the presentation of a new and compelling play – The Nether by Jennifer Haley – which ushers audiences into the dystopian world that has evolved in the not-too-distant future. It's an intriguing choice, to be sure, and one which could be fraught with failure and pretension were it not for the superb production concept and vision of director/producer Jessika Malone, given the wherewithal by ABE producing artistic director and co-founder Vali Forrister to challenge audiences in every way possible and to upend all conventional thought with a production that continues to haunt me almost a week after seeing it.
