Stephen Schwartz to Lead 2016 ASCAP Musical Theatre Workshop at The Wallis This Winter; Submissions Open!

The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts announces a new partnership with the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) and DreamWorks Studios to present the highly successful annual program, The ASCAP Foundation Musical Theatre Workshop. Now in its 23rd year under the leadership of Artistic Director Stephen Schwartz, the workshop -- giving selected composers and lyricists the opportunity to present selections from original musical works in progress for professional critique -- will take place at The Wallis in Beverly Hills from Feb. 16-18, 2016, with submissions now being accepted. The application deadline is Dec. 16, 2015.
Maggie Wilderotter Joins Dreamworks Animation's Board Of Directors

DreamWorks Animation (DWA) today announced that Maggie Wilderotter has joined its Board of Directors. Mrs. Wilderotter is Executive Chairman of Frontier Communications, a post she has held since April 2015, having previously served as that company's Chairman and CEO from 2006 to 2015.
DreamWorks Animation Posts Second Quarter 2015 Results

DreamWorks Animation SKG, Inc. (DWA) today reported revenues for the quarter ended June 30, 2015 of $170.8 million, representing an increase of 39.7% from the same period in 2014. In addition, DWA reported an adjusted (b) operating loss of ($1.0) million and adjusted (b) net loss attributable to DWA of ($11.6) million or an adjusted (b) loss of ($0.13) per share. Adjusted financial results exclude a $20.9 million pre-tax charge associated with Company's Restructuring Plan announced on January 22, 2015.

DreamWorks Animation (DWA) is implementing a new strategic plan to restructure its core feature animation business to ensure the consistent and profitable delivery of the high quality films that audiences have come to expect from the studio. Following a full review of the business, the company will focus its feature production from three films per year down to two, maximize its creative talent and resources, reduce costs, and drive profitability.

Just yesterday, President Barack Obama presented the National Medals of Arts in conjunction with the National Humanities Medals in an East Room ceremony at the White House. NEA Chairman Jane Chu said, 'Whether its animation or architecture, writing or music, these artists' creativity and passion have made an enormous impact on our nation. I join the President in congratulating them and celebrating the arts in our country.'
The official citations for the 2013 National Medal of Arts recipients are: Julia Alvarez, Brooklyn Academy of Music, Joan Harris, Bill T. Jones, John Kander, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Maxine Hong Kingston, Albert Maysles, Linda Ronstadt, Billie Tsien and Tod Williams, and James Turrell. Check out the ceremony below!
