Though you probably read the news exclusively here on BroadwayWorld.com back on January 4, it's now official - Jeremy Jordan, who created the role of rebellious newsboy leader Jack Kelly in Newsies last fall, will play the role when the show moves to Broadway's Nederlander Theatre March 15th for a strictly limited 101 performance engagement.

Ford's Theatre Society announced that Nicholas Stimler has been appointed to the position of Literary and Casting Director. Stimler was previously the Assistant to Broadway Director and Choreographer Jeff Calhoun, who is a Ford's Theatre Associate Artist. Stimler will manage literary submissions, develop of the Society's theatrical programming in conjunction with the Ford's programming staff and supervise casting for all productions.

As previously announced, Newsies will move to Broadway's Nederlander Theatre for a strictly limited 101 performance run following its critically-hailed run at Paper Mill Playhouse earlier this fall. The musical, featuring a score by eight-time Academy Award® winner Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Sister Act) and Jack Feldman, and a book by four-time Tony Award® winner Harvey Fierstein (La Cage aux Folles, Torch Song Trilogy), will play its first Broadway preview on March 15th prior to its March 29th opening night; the final performance is scheduled for June 10th. More than 100 local and national theatre artists representing more than 40 San Diego theatrical productions at a dozen local theaters will compete for the 2011 Craig Noel Awards on Feb. 6, the San Diego Theatre Critics Circle announced today.

Now, a press release from the production has been posted on Broadway's Best Shows noting that producers have now officially announced that the show will play its final performance on December 30th at 8pm, following 69 performances.

He's a new dad but an old hand at Broadway ensemble work as well as principal roles on other stages.

The Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation (SDCF) has named Alex Lippard as the recipient of its 2011 Mike Ockrent Fellowship.
