Grammy-Winning Turtle Island Quartet Celebrate CD Release with Concert at Bucks County Playhouse

For more than thirty years, Turtle Island Quartet has reinvented the role of the modern string quartet through its Grammy-winning albums and arrangements. This spring, the Quartet honors the impact of legendary saxophonist Charlie Parker with a new album, Bird's Eye View, out February 9, 2018 from Azica. The Quartet will celebrate with a CD release concert at Buck's County Playhouse (70 S. Main Street, New Hope PA 18938) on February 10, 2018 at 8 pm. The genius of Parker's improvisations almost single-handedly catapulted jazz from pop style into art music, indelibly altering the musical landscape of America. GODSPELL Rounds Out Theatre Aspen's 35th Anniversary Slate

Jed Bernstein, Producing Director of Theatre Aspen, announced today that the iconic musical Godspellwill join Ragtime and Our Town as the final offering in the 2018 summer season. Sara Brians joins Theatre Aspen for the first time as Godspell's director and choreographer, and long-time Theatre Aspen actor Elise Kinnon (Full Monty, Cabaret, Mamma Mia!, Hairspray) will assist.

Jed Bernstein, Producing Director of Theatre Aspen, announced today that the Pulitzer Prize winning play Our Town will be the second production in the 2018 summer season. Broadway writer/director/actor Hunter Foster will join Theatre Aspen for his first summer as the play's director.

It was a reunion for two of the lead actors from Broadway's On the Town when Tony-nominee Tony Yazbeck visited New Hope, PA to see Clyde Alves at Bucks County Playhouse. Alves plays the role of Tago in the world premiere of The New World , the musical comedy that is getting raves from critics. John Timpane of the Philadelphia Inquirer said With sneaky brilliance, beginning to end, The New World is fresh, funny, and fluid. Continuing a Halloween-season tradition that resumed in 2013, shortly after the opening of the historic New Hope venue, Bucks County Playhouse (BCP) will once again present its popular production of Richard O'Brien's The Rocky Horror Show for an extended run beginning Friday, October 13 through Sunday, October 29. Bucks County Playhouse's Executive Producer Robyn Goodman, Producing Director Alexander Fraser and Producers Stephen Kocis and Joshua Fiedler announced final casting for the production, which features direction by Hunter Foster (BCP's Clue: On Stage and Guys and Dolls ) with choreography by Lorin Latarro (BCP's Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story and Broadway's Waitress ).

The extraordinary beauty of Jericho Farms, one of Bucks County's most storied estates, and the rocking sounds of a 1960s-pop sensation set the stage for the Third Annual Galavant in the Garden Gala that benefited Bucks County Playhouse. Presented by Playhouse Artists, the non-profit organization that supports the growth and sustainability of the Playhouse, Galavant in the Garden was held on Saturday, September 23 and featured a concert by The Midtown Men, four of the original stars of 'Jersey Boys.'
