Jason Kravits to Host Sing-a-Long at BUCKS COUNTY PLAYHOUSE, 7/22

Bucks County Playhouse (BCP) (Jed Bernstein, Producing Director) will present their July Cabaret Series and "Sing-a-Long-a Sound of Music" this weekend. Broadway and television actor Jason Kravits (Relatively Speaking, "The Practice") will host "Sing-a-Long-a Sound of Music", a little over one week after what would have been Oscar Hammerstein II's 117th birthday, on Sunday, July 22nd at 6:30 p.m. at the Bucks County Playhouse (70 South Main Street). The presentation will be preceded by a special outdoor BBQ Style dinner hosted by Hamilton's Grill Room beginning at 5:00 p.m.
Paul Rudd-Led GRACE to Open at Cort Theatre on October 4

Producers Debbie Bisno, Fox Theatricals, Jed Bernstein and Paula Wagner announced today that the Broadway Premiere of Grace, the acclaimed American play written by Award-winning writer Craig Wright (Mistakes Were Made, Recent Tragic Events, "Six Feet Under") and directed by Dexter Bullard (Tracy Letts' BUG), will play The Cort Theatre (138 West 48th Street). The strictly limited engagement begins performances on Thursday, September 13th, with an official opening night set for Thursday, October 4, 2012.

The graduation for the Commercial Theater Institute's Extensive 16-week Seminar was held recently at The Broadway League. Every year, a small group of theatre professionals are selected for this program which covers a wide range of topics lead by the most distinguished industry professionals as lecturers and panelists.

Last night, July 2, was the Bucks County Playhouse re-opening and ribbon cutting ceremony, as well as the first performance of Rodgers & Hammerstein's A Grand Night for Singing. The first production of the Bucks County Playhouse (BCP) 2012 summer season, A Grand Night for Singing will run through Sunday, July 29th. The ribbon-cutting ceremony took place 73 years and a day after The Playhouse first opened in 1939. Special guests included Mayor Laurence Keller (New Hope), Chris Hart (son of Moss Hart), Pennsylvania Lieutenant Governor Cawley, Congressman Michael Fitzpatrick (U.S. Representative for Pennsylvania's 8th congressional district), and Will Hammerstein (Grandson of Oscar Hammerstein II). Jed Bernstein (Broadway Producer), Bob Israel (Movie Producer and Entertainment Marketing Executive), and Rich Battista (Entertainment and Media Executive) have announced the launch of The Broadway & Vine Fund, specifically dedicated to optioning movie titles for adaptation as musicals, commissioning creative teams to develop scripts, and staging the first readings and presentations. For any projects deemed worthy of further development, additional fundraising will be undertaken.

Rated P for Parenthood, a new musical comedy in its Off-Broadway debut now on stage upstairs at the Westside Theatre (407 West 43rd Street), welcomed its first marriage proposal following the evening performance on Wednesday, March 7th. Long Island resident David Troy joined the cast following the curtain call to call his girlfriend, Dellene Kornitsky on stage. As the audience applauded, Mr. Troy popped the question. Ms Kornitsky answered, "Of course!"

Jed Bernstein, President of Playhouse Productions and the Producing Director of Bucks County Playhouse (BCP) in New Hope, Pennsylvania, has announced the senior leaders of his producing team. The staff which will usher in the theater's reopening this July includes: Daryl Boling (General Manager), Britt Marden (Director of Marketing), Matthew Troillett (Artistic Associate), and John Vivian (Production Manager).

Midtown Direct Rep will hold a fundraising event to benefit the company during the opening week of Rated P for Parenthood, it was announced today. The Special MDR Off-Broadway fundraiser ticket will include prime orchestra seats to the Friday, March 20th 8:00 p.m. performance, exclusive talk back with the cast and the creators of Rated P, and a champagne after-party coach ride back to SOPAC with members of the cast, Ms. Rustin, Mr. Dobrish and producers who all call South Orange/Maplewood home.
