Henry Hewes Design Awards Presented In New York

The Henry Hewes Design Awards Committee honored the four 2018 honorees of the 54th annual Henry Hewes Design Awards at a luncheon in New York yesterday which was attended by some of the top theater designers in the country. The 2017-18 honorees were David Zinn, Emily Rebholz, Jeanette Oi-Suk Yew and Palmer Hefferan.
A.R.T. Announces Cast And Creatives For EXTRAORDINARY

American Repertory Theater at Harvard University (A.R.T.), under the leadership of Terrie and Bradley Bloom Artistic Director Diane Paulus and Executive Producer Diane Borger, announces the casting and creative team for ExtraOrdinary, a cabaret retrospective celebrating ten years of musical theater at the A.R.T. The limited run begins on Friday, November 16 at the Loeb Drama Center in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and ends on Friday, November 30, 2018.
Sarah Hughes Helms New Cara Scarmack Play With Buran Theatre

Buran Theatre's inaugural CartHorse Fellow Cara Scarmack will see her play some higher glimmer in the landscape of flat premiere as a culmination of the fellowship. Under the direction of Sarah Hughes, the immersive and genre-defying work-straddling theatre, dance and music-will see a three-week run at The Collapsable Hole in the West Village from October 20-November 3.

The Colorado Theatre Guild's 13th Annual Henry Awards will take place Monday, July 23, 2018 at the Lone Tree Arts Center, located at 10075 Commons St. Lone Tree, CO 80124. The evening begins at 6 p.m. with cocktails and the awards ceremony will begin at 7 p.m., followed by a reception at the Lone Tree Arts Center. Tickets are $35 for CTG members, $40 non-members or $45 at the door. Winners for the 63rd Annual Drama Desk Awards were announced just last night at The Town Hall. In keeping with Drama Desk's mission, nominators considered shows that opened on Broadway, Off Broadway and Off-Off Broadway during the 2017-2018 New York theater season in the same competitive categories.

Abingdon Theatre Company (Tony Speciale, Artistic Director; Denise Dickens, Producing Director) presents the final main stage production of its 25th Anniversary season, Fruit Trilogy, a new trilogy of plays by Tony Award winner Eve Ensler (The Vagina Monologues, In the Body of the World) and directed by Mark Rosenblatt (world premiere of Fruit Trilogy at West Yorkshire Playhouse, UK; Animal Wisdom, Bushwick Starr). Featuring Kiersey Clemons (Dope, The Only Boy Living In New York, 'Transparent') and Liz Mikel (Lysistrata Jones, NBC's 'Friday Night Lights'), the New York premiere production launches a limited engagement Saturday June 2 at 8PM at the historic Lucille Lortel Theatre Theatre (121 Christopher Street, NYC) in Greenwich Village and runs through June 23. The official opening night is June 7 at 7PM. Performances are Tuesday - Thursday at 7PM, Friday and Saturday at 8PM, with matinees on Saturday at 3PM and Sunday at 2PM.

Tony Award-nominated director Liesl Tommy (A RAISIN IN THE SUN, MA RAINEY'S BLACK BOTTOM, RUINED) returns to the Huntington Theatre Company to lead a stellar, diverse cast in prolific British playwright Caryl Churchill's TOP GIRLS. Written in 1982 as a diatribe against Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher's anti-union administration in England, the themes of Churchill's outspoken feminist play remain relevant and all too familiar more than three decades later. In addition to choosing actors outside the box of white, British women, Liesl also fields a creative team of designers which is almost exclusively female.

The Old Globe's 2017-2018 Season continues with today's announcement of the complete cast and creative team for the Globe-commissioned world premiere of Anna Ziegler's new American play The Wanderers, directed by Barry Edelstein, the Globe's Erna Finci Viterbi Artistic Director. The Wanderers will run April 6 - May 6, 2018 in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Tickets start at $30.00 and are on sale to the general public now. Previews run April 6-12. Opening night is Friday, April 13 at 8:00 p.m.
