San Francisco's cutting-edge Cutting Ball Theater proudly announces the lineup for its 15th season. The season opens in October with the World Premiere of SIDEWINDERS by Basil Kreimendahl, directed by M. Graham Smith, followed by Alfred Jarry's UBU ROI in January, directed by Yury Urnov, in a new translation by Cutting Ball Artistic Director Rob Melrose. RISK IS THIS…THE CUTTING BALL NEW EXPERIMENTAL PLAYS FESTIVAL returns in February with five new works, including two new plays from resident playwright Andrew Saito, in staged readings that push the boundaries of what theater can be. Rounding out the season in April is the American Premiere of Samuel Galett's COMMUNIQUE N°10 in a World Premiere translation, and directed, by Rob Melrose. In addition to the main stage season, Cutting Ball Theater continues its Hidden Classics Reading Series with six new installments. The entire 2013-14 season will be staged in San Francisco at the Cutting Ball Theater in residence at EXIT on Taylor (277 Taylor Street at Ellis). Magenta Giraffe Theatre Company of Detroit presents Jean Genet's classic The Maids, translated by Bernard Frechtman, directed by Frannie Shepherd-Bates. The show runs from tonight, April 26-May 18, 2013.

In Horizon Theatre Rep's new production of 'The Balcony,' Jean Genet's erotic world of political intrigue and violent revolution is set in United Europe in search for a new identity. Directed by Rafael De Mussa, the production will take stage May 16 to June 2 at The Access Theatre, 380 Broadway in TriBeCa.

Red Bull Theater will present the American Premiere of a new adaptation of August Strindberg's The Dance of Death by Mike Poulton (Tony Award Nominee for Best Play for Fortune's Fool), directed by Joseph Hardy (Tony Award winner for Best Director for Child's Play), for a strictly limited engagement beginning tonight, April 10th and continuing through May 4th only, at the Lucille Lortel Theater (121 Christopher Street, between Bleecker and Hudson Streets). Opening Night is set for Thursday April 18th. Hardy directs a company that features Daniel Davis, Laila Robins, and Derek Smith.

Amos Vogel (1922-2012) was one of the most influential film programmers of the 20th century, as the co-founder of the avant-garde film club Cinema 16, co-founder of the New York Film Festival, and author of the seminal 1974 book Film as a Subversive Art. From March 16 through 31, 2013, Museum of the Moving Image will present a celebration of Vogel's life's work with a series of sixteen iconic films championed by Vogel in his book. These films elucidate through provocation, joy, and transgression-each one a testimony to the power of cinema and of Vogel's unique vision.
