Baruch Performing Arts Center With Blessed Unrest And Teatri ODA Of Kosovo Present The World Premiere Of REFUGE

Baruch Performing Arts Center, along with New York-based theater company Blessed Unrest and Teatri ODA of Kosovo, will co-present the World Premiere of Refuge from April 25 - May 11 @ 7:30, with a variable weekly schedule and a 5pm performance Sun May 5 (Opening Night April 27) at Baruch Performing Arts Center, 55 Lexington Avenue (25th Street between Third and Lexington Avenues), NYC.

Manhattan Theatre Club's American premiere of The Nap, written by Olivier Award nominee Richard Bean (One Man, Two Guvnors) and directed by Tony Award winner Daniel Sullivan (Lillian Hellman's The Little Foxes; Rabbit Hole; Proof) is playing its final two weeks of performances. The play must close on Sunday, November 11th at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre (261 West 47th Street).

MTC Will Hold 'Trans Visibility In The Theatre' Panel, Following Performance of THE NAP

Manhattan Theatre Club will "Trans Visibility in the Theatre," a panel directly following the Sunday, November 4th matinee of The Nap. Come to an open discussion about increasing trans presence in the theatre, with panelists including Alexandra Billings (The Nap, "Transparent"), Kate Bornstein (Straight White Men, "I Am Cait"), Will Davis (India Pale Ale, Men On Boats), Alexa Fogel ("Pose" Casting Director), Bianca Leigh (The Nap, Transamerica), and Marquise Vilson (Charm). They will discuss how the arts industry can sustain and further the current push for greater trans presence and representation.

Carrie Ahern Dance Presents SEX STATUS 2.0

"Sex Status 2.0" takes Simone de Beauvoir's 1949 feminist masterpiece The Second Sex as a jumping off point for a different take on dance performance. Created by choreographer Carrie Ahern in collaboration with performers Carolyn Hall, Kelly Hayes, Donna Costello, Elke Rindfleisch, Anne Parichon, Jennifer Chin, composer and vocalist Starr Busby, lighting designer Jay Ryan, and costume consultant Naoko Nagata; Sex Status 2.0 explores our conditioning as women and what still needs to be uncovered, or shifted. What is authentic femininity? Where does our power lie? What are our deepest desires?

Following the announcement of their Opening Night Film, Yen Tan's award-winning AIDS drama 1985, NewFest today announced the full lineup of their 30th annual celebration of the year's best LGBT films from around the world. The program of more than 140 narrative features, documentaries, episodic series and shorts runs from October 24-30 at the SVA Theatre, Cinépolis Chelsea, and The LGBT Community Center in New York City.
