Josh Gad's Political Comedy Picked Up by NBC

According to the Hollywood Reporter, NBC has just picked up a new comedy pilot from Tony nominee Josh Gad. Titled 1600 Penn, the pilot is about 'a dysfunctional family that just happens to live at the most famous address in America.' Gad will executive produce the project along with Jon Lovett and Jason Winer.

USA Network Acquires Rights to 'Modern Family'

USA Network has reached an agreement with Twentieth Television, acquiring the exclusive syndication rights to the critically acclaimed ratings hit MODERN FAMILY. The announcement was made today by Jane Blaney, USA's executive vice president, programming, acquisitions and scheduling and Steve MacDonald, EVP, General Sales Manager, Basic Cable of Twentieth Television. Under the agreement, USA will strip the series Monday through Sunday beginning Fall 2013.

Two-time Tony Award nominee, Helen Mirren, is set to star in the motion picture, 'Arthur', alongside Russell Brand. The British actress will play a valet in this 1981 comedy remake. In the Oscar Award-Winning film, Arthur is a drunk, clueless man waiting to receive a large sum of inheritance money.

The winners of the 2009 Directors Guild of America Outstanding Directorial Achievement Awards and the recipients of the Guild's 2010 Career Achievement Awards were announced last night during the 62nd Annual DGA Awards Dinner at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles. Kathryn Bigelow won the DGA's Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film for The Hurt Locker.
Following the welcome by DGA President Taylor Hackford to an audience of more than 1,600 guests, director/actor Carl Reiner hosted the ceremony.
