Tomorrow, Tuesday 13 November 2012, sees the final cast in Edward Hall's critically acclaimed production of Chariots of Fire take to the track at the Gielgud Theatre after its previously announced extension through to 2 February 2013.

Last night, Tuesday 11 September, the stage production of Chariots of Fire was host to over 60 members of the 2012 Olympic Team GB who attended a gala performance of Edward Hall's critically acclaimed production at the Gielgud Theatre and accompanied cast members from this five star production on stage for a special curtain call. Due to overwhelming public demand, Edward Hall's critically acclaimed production of Chariots of Fire now extends booking at the Gielgud Theatre to 2 February 2013. Ben Cross, Nigel Havers, Nicholas Farrell and Alice Krige, stars of the original 1981 film Chariots of Fire, made a surprise visit to the Gielgud Theatre last night, July 10, to meet with the actors currently performing in Edward Hall's five star stage production of the same name. The stage cast, led by James McArdle, Jack Lowden, Tam Williams, Mark Edel-Hunt and Savannah Stevenson were introduced to their film character counterparts and to an excited audience at the Gielgud Theatre. Hugh Hudson, Director of the original film and co-producer of the new stage adaptation joined actors from both film and stage at this unique curtain call.

Almost 17,000 stadium seats go on sale today (30 May 2012) for the West End transfer of Chariots of Fire. The Hampstead Theatre has announced the world premiere of CHARIOTS OF FIRE. Award-winning playwright Mike Bartlett brings the Olympic story to the stage for the first time in a new adaptation inspired by Colin Welland's original screenplay. Directed by Hampstead Theatre's Artistic Director Edward Hall, CHARIOTS OF FIRE will be performed on a spectacular set by award-winning designer Miriam Buether, which transforms Hampstead Theatre into a stadium, making an immersive experience that evokes the 1924 Paris games. The production will also feature the legendary music of the Vangelis score with additional live music and arrangements by Tony Award-winning composer Jason Carr.

Chichester Festival Theatre celebrates its 50th birthday with an anniversary season that echoes and acknowledges the past while also looking to the future. Uncle Vanya was part of Chichester's very first season in 1962 and became a key part of its history and is revisited during Festival 2012. The Way of the World in 1984 has also become an emblematic production; the play will feature again this year.

I remember back in the early 80's when the film adaptation of the original French play, LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, was a cable staple. It's a wonderful little movie well worth your time, and it spawned a sequel, the American remake, The Birdcage, and a cheeky, charming little musical with a book by Harvey Fierstein and a funny and touching score by the legendary Jerry Herman. The production that's currently playing the Fox Theatre is a wonderfully executed and staged version that's a sheer delight. It's filled with terrific performances, and guaranteed to entertain.
